So.. Making a druid.. What build?

Hello guys, I am going to start a druid now.. What i am looking for is a Fun ( most important), good-performing, not-to-expensive druid that can do most things in PVE.. An suggestions? A guide link perhaps?

Thanks alot.

Re: So.. Making a druid.. What build?

3 options IMO:

- PvM Wind Druid. There's a PvP Wind Druid guide in the stickies, and the same setup will work in PvP. It will work with semi-decent gear
- PvM Fury Werewolf. Look for the uber guide in the stickies.
- Fire Claws Werebear. Not sure if there's a guide but the setup is pretty simple: 20 Lycanthropy, 20 Fireclaws, rest FC synergy, 1 pt Shockwave, Maul and Hunger. Get a very fast weapon, 1h or 2h. Normal is a phase blade with 6xShael, but that will not give you any way to handle physical damage so consider using e.g. Ribcracker (as main weapon or on switch).

Heya,

I'll point you to two very simple builds that require zero gear to be effective.

1.) Summoner. Druid + DireWolves + Grizzly. 1 point in werebear, 1 point in lycanthropy, 1 point in shockwave. You still have a ton of points to spend as you please. You can grab some elemental power in the fire tree (fissure or volcano). Or you can further your summoning and bear carrier via an Oak or HoW and/or a mix of some Fire Claws with some syenrgy for some shapeshifted shockwaving and fire claw slapping while summons eat their face good fun. Add a merc and you're gold.

2.) Werebear. A lot of people push for wolves, but wolves really do need good gear to handle crowds and Fury doesn't come until 30, so what do you do until then other than use a level 1 attack skill of some kind? And even then, Fury isn't so hot unless you have crushing blow, a high damage weapon, and some good AR. A Bear on the other hand has two things that right away work wonders: shockwave & fire claws. Granted, a wolf can go fireclaws too, but bears have faster fireclaws and have shockwave. Shockwave ultimately is what saves your bacon. Crowd? They're stunned. Now fire claw their face. Stun. Repeat. If you synergize your Fire Claws with `Geddon, you can cast `Geddon and beat face and stun things with shockwave while the fireballs fall on their heads. You could do this and add summons to help guard while you stun and pin things down for your damage to fall on. Immunities? Merc and summons can work, or you can use a weapon on switch that helps against fire immunes, like something with elemental damage or good physical damage or some crushing blow, etc. Really no much gear needed since you can do all this naked (except cover all immunities you may encounter in hell of course). This build lets you build attack skills from level 1 and on, so you're not just a char with no real skills to use until much later. You can push FireStorm early, it's a great leveling skill and roasts through normal mode. It later is huge synergy to fireclaw & geddon (or just fireclaw if you skip geddon). Next up is Fissure. Great skill all through the game even in Hell. Good synergy for both claws & geddon either way. So again, from level 1 to the end, you always have a good attack skill that you're pumping. And it all builds onto itself so none of the skills are wasted later when you switch to a new skill, thanks to synergy.

Cheers, :)

I'd only recommend lycanthropy in hardcore.

Re: So.. Making a druid.. What build?

Just FYI, I have a windy druid and I'm getting really irritated with cold/physical immunities in Hell. There are more bosses than I anticipated with that combo of immunes and I can't do any damage to them unless I put points in the fire tree. (I play solo)

Reaper's toll was suggested, but then I have no insight poleaxe for meditation. Screwed..

Re: So.. Making a druid.. What build?

I like using a 1-pt. fury and having an Azurewrath or some other fast high elemental damage weapon on switch. This will only cost you a few Oak Sage points in the long run and I use the wolf form as much as I use the windy form for PvM. Of course if you're going hardcore PvP you want every point in Oak you can get but seriously you only lose a piddly number of points.

Re: So.. Making a druid.. What build?

Reapers toll should be the merc polearm anyway. Against non-immunes, it increases nado damage by AT LEAST 50%, often more.

Re: So.. Making a druid.. What build?

What if you're a caster? It takes a lot of mana to spam tornado...

Anyway, I put 1 point into all the fire skills so at least I can cast Armageddon at lvl 10... it works..

Re: So.. Making a druid.. What build?

Chug some more blues? They're not THAT rare.

Re: So.. Making a druid.. What build?

Armageddonisn't that good for windys, because unlikefire druids, the wind spells don't synergize it

Re: So.. Making a druid.. What build?

After reading your posts I've decided to try a WereBear fireclawer monster thing. Thanks.
