smiter weapon?!

i cant seem to decide what is the best smite weapon

things to consider:

CB
x% to cast amp
OW
Range
Ias
Res

say i chose to use a lacerator and added 90 dex points that would normally be used for vit would the 1/3 chance to cast amp make a lot of difference? what range does it have? alsowhat ias do i need on me to get 6 fpa can i get faster?

lacerator?
silence?
redemer?
aestrons?

please somebody tell me which is the best and how the dmg would differ between them all

lemme put pros and cons on each item

lacerator double dmg when amp and open wounds:good for tanking all melee, doenst need repair cuz no durability and u can damage ppl from a far by throwing/ con needs 10% more ias no resist no crushingblow range of 1 and not good for pvm, not well rounded cuz it only shines in melee vs melee and not melee vs elemental

silence 2 skill 75 resist good for tanking elemental users and fast smite ias most wellrounded good for most situations/ little effect smite dmg (2skill wow that only adds 200 dmg overall), it doenst really shine in melee vs melee but it shines in melee vs elementals

astreon has cb, slow targe,t 4 combat, range of 2, quite well rounded weapon adds 500 dmg to smite because of 4combatskill also good for charging whenever chasing someone/ needs more ias adds some dmg with 4 combat but its no match against lacerator users.

redeamer i dont even consider this as a smiting weapon cuz it seems that it has no use for smiters compared to the top 3 smiter weapon mentioned above.

in conclusion i will pick lacerator and silence (although i dont have silence yet)
im stuck at a poorman version wiz spike 75 resist LOLOL

Wow if that's true then lacerator is worse than i thought...Sammy if you use lacerator, the second that people find that you're using smite and amp they'll never want to melee you and will merely kill you from afar. Unless you make some insanely weird and lucky build that implements a smiter with decent AR, you'll never hit anyone with decent defense(meaning most people)by throwing lacerator, so thats out.

Durability isnt really an issue... it needs 10 more ias meaning you cant have lifetap from draculs unless you use exile, which is blah for smite. If you socket something with a 15 ias jewel you'll lose DR; that means you'll have a weak fast smite with handicapped DR. It has no crushing blow to help the bad damage already; and its a range one meaning you probably wont even be able to charge with it or hit anyone even slightly further away from you.

thanks for the info questionman, it really shows the 1-2 advantages and the 10 or more disadvantages of that weap. Unless everything you said was false, haha :cheesy:
 
i stand by lacerator because it doubles smite dmg when amp...which is hella good against other melee attackers. if ur using lacerator for charginng or against non melee attackers ull end up dead so i only use lacerator against melee(smite only with lacerator for amp purposes against ww, smiter, zealer or anything close range) its ok to use lacerator althought its not well rounded

i personally use other wepon like nords zealing and chargin and hand of blessed light for fohin ppl.

Well ww barbs go 2 handed vs smiters and they usually have range 3, or 5 if they go with a great poleaxe or something like that; so you probably wont touch them more than 2 times and will die very quickly. smite v smite usually does have a bit to do with range. Most will be using range 2 or 3 so again, chances are you'll die just as amp goes off. Pretty much any weapon you use vs zealots will give you a win. So out of your 3 prime examples when lacerator should be used you'll die to anyone that knows what theyre doing...

Well, everything isnt always as it "seems". For pure, raw damage, redeemer is almost unbeatable thanks to that lovely little + dmg added mod. Its my personal favorite smite weapon, so dont knock it until youve tried it.

well in my experience amping ppl even tuff barbarians reduces their life to zero

lemme say this once i use lacerator and it works wonders for me. if u think lacerator doesnt work for u then dont even use it

i stand by lacerator for pally...

range? if barbs keep wwinding out of my range thats when i foh them

ppl hate my tactic when i amp them and foh them from affar and both do substatial dmg but im the one whos left standing after their corpse kiss the ground

Well, first thing: pretty much anything owns lifetap/doom axe.

Second, in no way is lacerator's CHANCE to cast amp a strategy. it's just what it is CHANCE and luck of you either always coming up with that 33% (or however much % to cast amp it has) or never getting a single amp cast in. I dont see how clicking and holding and just waiting to get lucky with that amplify percent is strategy. So dont call it that, please.
