RUnewords? So They Say .... >.<

As I'm a newer player and one who's charting his own course based on the help from this very forum, I have a big question.

I'm getting into using Runewords via my Assassin (Lightning Trapper) and so far have twice done them and had them come up as nothing I saw described on the Net - in other words, FAIL.

I suspect it has to do with having found the wrong list for my playing situation -- Solo on my own computer, not on ScamNet, no mods. I'm certainly not expecting an answer containing a full recipe rundown, but I would appreciate a link to a trusted site that does give dependable Runewords for my situation. If I need to offer up any other info, please let me know.

Thanks!

Arreat Summit is a good reference, the only Rune Words that don't work are the patch 1.10 ones marked as Ladder Only. You can get the Rune Word Mod to be able to use those if you want, see the stickies.

Re: RUnewords? So They Say .... >.<

Make sure you read through Arreat Summit's intro to rune words too. A common mistake is trying to make runewords in the wrong weapon type.

Also, when you say fail do you mean that it didn't create a runeword? Or that it did, but didn't give you the mods you were looking for? (The former will give the item a new name, i.e. "White"). If its the latter, I'd be somewhat interested where you got the runeword info from. I can't say I've seen many d2 info sites giving totally terrible info.

On second though, Its probably best you don't post that site here.

GL with the trapper!

What version are you? That could make a big difference too. Maybe you got info for an older patch

Re: RUnewords? So They Say .... >.<

The version is 1.13 -- and, yes, this is uncharted territory for me, so the suggestions are very much appreciated. The item was a simple 2 socket armor piece, and was placed in the right order. The resulting characteristics were nowhere near the same as what I'd seen, although improved by the actions of the individual runes.

I'll read up as best I can and see what happens, most likely I'll find a mistake on my part!

If you got a tiny bit more specific, which 2 runes and which runeword were you trying to make and then we could answer your question very quickly.

Re: RUnewords? So They Say .... >.<

Most common mistake is to use a blue item which has two sockets due to it's "Mechanics" prefix. This isn't a socketable item for runeword use. You need a grey (or silver... what ever) item.

oooooops. i guess we have a winner! (me being the loser).

Thanks SO much. I'll be searching on suggested links and reading up on things better in the future.
