Runewords Galore - The Turn of the Tide

This thread is for the discussion of the new Runewords and their applications to Barbarians only! How these runewords will be incorporated into existing builds, how they can be the foundation(s) for new builds, and how they can be used to benefit Barbarians to the fullest extent will all be covered in this thread.

 
the title is great, lol. :thumbsup:

i think the only reall good rws are fortitude armor (for obvious reasons) and maybe that bow one with +valk on it.

the weapon ones are pretty cheesy for barbs, IMO.
 
How about Death Runeword for your Frenzy Barb builds. It would work just like the Glacial Spike zealots since you're attacking at crazy speeds.

Death:Hel + El + Vex + Ort + Gul
5 Socket Swords/Axes
100% Chance To Cast Level 44 Chain Lightning When You Die
25% Chance To Cast Level 18 Glacial Spike On Attack
Indestructible
+300-385% Enhanced Damage (varies)
20% Bonus To Attack Rating
+50 To Attack Rating
Adds 1-50 Lightning Damage
7% Mana Stolen Per Hit
50% Chance of Crushing Blow
+0.5% (per Character Level) Deadly Strike (Based on Character Level)
+1 To Light Radius
Level 22 Blood Golem (15 Charges)
Requirements -20%


Only problem here is the lack of IAS, so I would say pop it in an etheral Phase blade for the -30% IAS. You'd still be attacking fast with your frenzy. The glacial spike would re-activate before the monsters ever unfroze, and it would sure help with those pesky mana burns. The only thing I see being a problem are cold-immune manaburns. But then you can leech off of them pretty easily. It's the PI mana burns that normally give you a hard time, but since they're frozen....


Maybe you can combine this with Oath as your second wep.

Oath:Shael + Pul + Mal + Lum
4 Socket Swords/Axes/Maces
30% Chance To Cast Level 20 Bone Spirit On Striking
Indestructible
+50% Increased Attack Speed
+210-340% Enhanced Damage (varies)
+75% Damage To Demons
+100 To Attack Rating Against Demons

Level 16 Heart Of Wolverine (20 Charges)
Level 17 Iron Golem (14 Charges)


Here you've got IAS and that 'oh so helpful' HoW charges the damage wouldn't be too bad either if you get a near perf.

So with this set-up, you've got Crushing blow, deadly strike, Glacial Spike, HoW, PMH, and Mana Leech. The Magic Absorb, bone spirit, and 20% AR are just gravy! I'm not sure if the Blood Golem is a good idea though ... anyone with experience in that area?


Another decent alternative is Grief
Grief: Eth + Tir + Lo + Mal + Ral
5 Socket Swords/Axes
35% Chance To Cast Level 15 Venom On Striking
+30-40% Increased Attack Speed (varies)
Damage +340-400 (varies)
Ignore Target's Defense
-25% Target Defense
+1.875 (per character level)% Damage To Demons (Based on Character Level)
Adds 5-30 Fire Damage
-20-25% To Enemy Poison Resistance (varies)
20% Deadly Strike
Prevent Monster Heal
+2 To Mana After Each Kill
+11 Life After Each Kill

The +340-400 damage is the kicker here. You don't need an Etheral Zerker to make this a decent weapon. Again, pop it in a phase and you've got some fast high end damage. The Venom going off coupled with the -PSN Res sounds fun. Big thing is the IAS, though.



Any combo of these three seem to make for fun Frenzy Barb builds. I'd say the Death RW is the sweetest deal, though b/c of the Glacial and the Mana Leech. With that you can hit up your standard barb gear (BK ring, Arreats, Raven, Highlord, Dracs, Gores, Duress or Fortitude, Dungos ... all lacking ML). Not too shabby. I'm interested in seeing what other builds people come up with.
 
1 - Grief - (quoting from memory & with an aprox translation): external pressures influence u, regardless if u rezist them or not :xrollseye

2 - Fortitude - obvious reasons...very obvious reasons.

3 - Oath - the beast weapon for the money, No 1 as "poor man`s choice" - and a very viable endgame/pvp weapon

Those three draw my attention and, maybe phoneix.

even tho they were already mentioned, they were the only ones that really stood out for the barb: death, fortitude, and oath.

hmm the eleventy-umpteenth thread on the runewords and what it will *mean* for barbs.
Maybe ask hal 1 thread for you to all spam in so you can close down the rest of the rubbish :)
 
i think dual weilding eth legendary mallet oaths with frenzy would be sick, also notice, you can synergize that bonespirit by wearing marrowalk boots and you will be spouting out 1200 damage bonespirits faster than a necro can cast them

yes u can find eth crystal & dimensional but u can NOT upgrade them since those need to be normal/superior for runewords & u can NOT upgrade normal or superior items

i'd like to see u try tho :D

you cant upgrade whites and you need whites to make RW's
 
Insight will be useful for PVM singers.... although the lack of fast cast rate andn skills are not very good, you get meditation, and you can bash in the tougher monsters that will otherwise take forever to kill (i.e. Baal/diablo)
