Question regarding FRW and WW

Question regarding FRW and WW

So I came across an idea saying that less FRW is actually good for WW as it reduces the moving speed of WW therefore allowing WW to hit the same target more times.

So putting this in other words, am I doing the right thing(s) if I plan to do the following?

1. Not putting skillpoints into increased speed.
2. Avoid FRW on boots (Goblin Toes would be a nice idea for the crushing blow, or other tri-resist/MF boots without FRW).
3. Wear the heaviest armor (e.g. Duress on Shadow Plate).
4. Avoid cannot be frozen (as it further reduces FRW but not WW attack speed when frozen, which is good).

Stamina should not be a problem with max BO and lots of points in Vit. Lets say I don't mind running a bit slower (I guess I'll leap/teleport my way to the boss if I ever need to do boss runs anyway).

The speed of ww only depends on on-weapon Ias. It is actually not a good idea to have no frw on you char, and no increased speed. These two are important for mobility. It is sometimes easier to outrun a fireball than tele away from it. It also helps a bit when you are slowed. Also, sometimes you need to reposition yourself between whirls. These are pvp remarks mainly, in pvm it would not make a huge difference perhaps, it is still a bad idea nonetheless :wink3:

What I've heard is to o that for bvbs since you want more hits but for bvcs you want lots of speed so you can do long desync wws

Thanks for all the replies up there. But still I am hesitant of putting skillpoints into increased stamina and increased speed... Guess I'll try to get a pair of gore riders to keep the FRW with crushing blow though.

It all largely depends on the rest of your gear - I would never invest in increased stamina, and I would only pump inc speed for mobility in duels where teleport and leap are forbiden. In other situations ~1 point in inc speed with +skills is enough.

Is your barb for pvp or pvm - that is the main question :wink3:

If u are frosen the ww speed will not be changed? (slowed) ?

Hmm... great. :P

Other idea is interesting.

What about Run/WALK setting?

If u use WALK only instead of RUN ww running speed will be slower? :)

Or ?

It's interesting...

1 or 2 hits cud potentially kill any monster in hell with the right setup of course , so u dont have to walk/run about slowly. kill faster and u no need to walk slow.

I put Gore Rider on my WW polearm barb, and he wasn't doing that well because he WWed too fast and didn't get a chance to hit enough, so I replaced them with Goblin Toe. He does much better now. Increased Speed is plenty to get him around.

On the PvP barb that I'm making I'm using Gore Rider. He has 37% FRW from Increased Speed, 30% from the boots, and 45% from Enigma, which will come off when dueling melee chars. Even against them, he'll have 70% FRW (I will add a charm that gives 3%). If you move faster, you can dictate when the fight takes place.

What exactly is a desync ww? How does it work?

WW tends to desynch, over longer distances. This is effect is in my experience further increased if your barb is strbugged. When I duel my friends smiter, I place the mousepointer in the edge of the screen and keep holding down the right mousebutton, changing direction too. This makes the server lose your real position, so I hitted him in the thin air, while he was aggressively hunting me. This technique is also nice too use against hammerdins.

Thanx Luder! :)

I think I've seen this before - when I whirl towards monsters and they die before I even approach them.
But I always thought this was due to lag. Sorry for the slight offtopic.

Cheers!
