pride or reapers for merc?

hi all,
im making a ww barb using azurewrath + grief pb combo, im going to be using a might merc but i cant decide what weapon will benefit me most, concentration from pride or decrep from reapers, i have a pride crytic axe but just want some advice before i go and trade it off for an eth reapers. oh this will be a pvm barb only. thx

well what do you want added dmg most the time(when merc is close) or do you want a chance to half their dmg, personally id go with pride.

I´d say go with Pride. Usually Reapers is used for it´s 33% chance to cast decrepify to remove physical immunes and to slow down monsters.
However, barbarian has berserk skill that does magical damage, so decrepify isn´t needed.

im leaning more towards an eth reapers, my merc will be a better tank and have some crowd control

get both and try it out, there is a demand for both reapers and pride so the latter will sell.

ethy reaper's is pretty awesome. pride adds some nice damage to grief. azurewraith is awesomeness too. but you are going to do enough damage without the conc aura, even without a might aura, to totally own all monsters. Of those two choices I'd go for the ethy reapers + holy freeze. hf+decrep totally paralyzes enemies.

on that note. you will notice that even with the super fast phase blades, you will be hurting when baal decreps you or a monster has holy freeze, and when they have both effects on you...

this is why I use frenzy with phase blades +faith act1merc so I don't slow down my attacks. I use shael'd azure+last wish pb for a max resist 450% mf-own-all-the-bosses-in-the-game-8player-solo set-up and hork all the unique and champion monsters. and yes I do chaos sanctuary too.

i got my hands on a non eth reapers today so gonna try them both out see what i like best if reapers rocks i will trade for an eth one.

as for frenzy this is gonna be a ww only barb as i havnt made one since i had a full ik barb about 3 years ago. i know i could make a more powerful build but this is just to take me back to how it used to be hence azurewrath(my fav item in all d2)

well if it's whirlwind, that's a different story all together. I would go with the pride/might. WW is such a sick attack when there are %ed adjustments. When whirling you really don't get hit much, so the defensive capabilities of reaper's is wasted much.

1 point double swing for secondary attack right? works great for 2weapon ww.

grief/azure with huge is a powerful combo, rivaling grief/beast.

the merc will struggle to stay alive with pride. it has no enhanced damage, so he can't life steal very much

Thing that sucks about cold is that you can't hork monsters that pop into ice cubes. I also think cold death affects drops but I might be wrong there.

I'm with you as Reapers fan, but I say might merc with it regarding a ww barb. It's absolutely amazing with ebotdz/griefz (or insert w/e you like)combo and enigma on Baal for example. It's awesome damage, and I tele on top of Baal so the merc hits right away and I can keep him there of course. Thats good stacking might/Fanata/decrep, and a ton of attacks per sec. Toss on LoH too:thumbup:

true once in a while I shatter a corpse from some cold damage from my ravenfrost too. It's not too often to get annoyed at. Defintely agree for whirlwind stack %ed auras. There is a reason the base ww skill has low ed%, because it gets overpowered quickly with %ed due to low fpa. So stack that %ed and ww becomes super powerful. I still prefer frenzy or berserk barbs for pvm though ;)

ya im sure it will, and thats not an exact figure its just my estimation thrugh game play.

I'm using a Holy Freeze/Pride desert merc at the moment and it's working quite well. My frenzier uses an EBOTD/Last Wish combo, so I end up life tapping quiet a lot, which really helps my merc survive. Thus far he's only died in Chaos Sanctuary, for obvious reasons.

My frenzier's merc uses Amned eth Reaper's (Might). He can solo extra fast Lister&Co in 4p game, due to Decrepify, so i believe Reaper's is the best choice out there.

For a ww barb (op) tap isn't as useful. Actually, It just screws up your ability to kill faster. Especially annoying in Baal runs, people keep tappin and it slows things down when you could benefit from reapers or necros.

Pride is trash, unless summon necro.

Eth reapers with decrepfy is much better support and the merc will be more self-reliant (damage and leech)
