OT: Loving the SPF

I just want to say that I love this place. This is the first online community I have been somewhat active in; and the complete diverse personalities, groups of people, drunk posts in mafia games, and the overall helpfulness of the SPF/inc-diablo in general makes me love this place. Everyone here is completely awesome, except for those who aren't. We have great mods: [highlight]very[/highlight] great mods. I don't interact with the admins much, but since they have great mods, I can only agree that the admins are much superior than the most awesome mods we have. Aslo, kettle corn is great. So is rum+coke.

This is a unique community for sure. I think this is only the second forum I've ever passed 1000 posts in, and the other one I am a global moderator for.

As for drinks... Sunny D and rum yo! (Youtube search: Walk off the earth sunny d and rum, and enjoy).

My personal favorite drink though. This was created by a guy who bartended at my favorite sports bar ever, which sadly no longer exists. The last I heard, he's a special agent for the FBI now ... but I digress. He called it "Hakuna Matata"

2 oz. 151, 1oz. each of Chambord, Midori Melon, Banana Liquer. Pineapple juice mixer. Shaken over ice and served clean (no rocks). Guaranteed to amaze.

WTF is 151?
Sunny D and rum!?! Hmm. I will have to buy some sunny D, for I have 1.75 liters of rum + 1 liter of rum. Yes, 2.75 liters of rum. If you want some, PM me and come on over. I'll share, just bring some Sunny D.

Anyways, I can only agree: this is a great place, esp. since I never felt the urge to be part of an online community before or after - the most are just full of [insert derogative word here] people. I tried to be part of the TL official forum, but ended up being pissed and upset every time I logged in and read more than two posts...

@drinks: I like all drinks with ginger...:cloud9:

151 is a rum by Bacardi. It's 151 proof (75.5% alcohol by volume). It's a golden rum that is really strong, and intended for mixed drinks. If you are worried about the high content, you can go with Bacardi superior or your choice of (non spiced) rum and the drink should still be essentially the same.

Be careful if you use the 151 though. The drink will NOT taste as strong as it is. I once had 3 in an hour and then thought I would go home. I made it to my car before passing out for a few hours ...

I'm quite fond of rum and cola. I usually drink whisky and cola though. This the new OT thread? :grin:

Not many people I know drink Whiskey straight. Most have it with cola as well. I drink it both ways, but prefer mixing.

I enjoy both coke and whisky but I would prefer them in separate glasses. I find 1 + 1 is less than two in this. Not saying I wouldn't drink whisky cola if one was given to me, though.

But when it seriously comes to drinks, I'm with Grisu. Can't beat ginger.

I enjoy my Whisky on the rocks, and preferably 21 years or older. Usually keep a bottle of The MacAllan around :)

Nah, whisky must not be that old unless it comes from Port Ellen.
A young, ripe and strong Ardberg or Laphroaig for me please. :nod:

Jack + coke is not bad as a party starter. But I would not classify Jack as whisky after all.
 
I was wondering if this would make it out of the first page before it turned to monk bashing.

This place is awesome, its true. Only forums that I've ever gotten more than 100 posts on, and for sure the only reason I am still playing D2.

Drinks? Mountain dew + vermouth is where its at!

Hmm.... :hmm: I will have to check that out. I've been on a Cruzan kick lately. I have seen the 151 in the store now that I think about it. My town has upped drinking laws so harsh that I don't even get a beer before I head home now. Supposedly even smthn like .01 will land you a dui/dwi. Outrageous.
