Native Languages

Within my stay at the SPF, I see that a lot of people aren't from the United States, and that some people over at the SPFs native language isn't English.

I just wanted to know what language(s) you speak, to know you better.

My native language is English, I am fluent in French, however I can only conjugate 'Passé Composé(sp?)' and I haven't speaken French in a long time, it's not really a favoite of mine.

I know a little Spanish. It's a lot like French, so I guess nine years of French was sorta useful before I thought it would be. I'm taking Spanish I, and I plan on taking up until Spanish III.

In the future, I'd like to learn Latin, Russian, German, and just the linguistics of Japenese.

How about you?

native is Chinese and a smattering of its dialects. Some Malay too. Second language is English of course. Intend to learn French and Japanese in the future.

Hey, Unleashed! Kumusta! One of my friends is from the Philippines and she can't wait to move back there someday. She's not from Manila, though, one of the provinces, but she speaks Tagalog and she's taught me a little (and I stress that "little" :D ).

Me, I'm (American) English all the way. Took French and German in high school, but I wouldn't consider myself fluent in either by any means. I like to study languages, though, or at least their structures and origins. :)

I'm thankfull that my native language is spanish (Argentina), as it's not so easy to learn. I speak fluently english and german. Currently I'm learning latin.

Native is Mandrin, with hokkien dialect, second language is English. Some Malay as well, by following my malay friends and learning from them. Japanese i'm learning now, but still a n00b at it. Planning to really master Japanese after my major exams (for those who know, 'O' lvls exam) are over.

My native language is English. I'm also largely fluent in Spanish, I don't know everything, but I can easily get around, and I'm also a Spanish major at school. I love Spanish as a language and as a culture.

I'm also learning Arabic. It's got it's hard points... and it's very hard points... :bonk:

Native is Portuguese, fluent English, tried some French in high school and German during college. Weird thing is that my father comes from a spanish family, my mother comes from italian folks, and I learned none of these languages to this day.

Native English (or Utahn, as "english" is different everywhere). I took three years of Spanish in Junior High, so obviously I don't know any.

That's odd. I would have assumed from that that your native language would have been cebuano(sp).

I'm just an ignorant American English-speaker. I've always wanted to learn to talk with a British accent, though. That's the sure way to get all the chicks.

Actually, Spanish is considered one of the easier languages to learn. Pronunciation and spelling are phonetic, and it's also a very organized language. There aren't too many exceptions in grammar/verb conjugation.

It's a wonderful language.

my native tongue is Southern Californian

my partner is Swedish and speaks Swedish & English. I promised her I'd learn Swedish, but I'm not doing a very good job of it.

English is my native language. Spoke Spanish pretty fluently, but I've used it so little in he last 5 years I've lost most of it. I can undestand very well still, but I can't speak at all. Starting to learn Italian now; I'm hoping that I get to live in Italy for a few years after school, so hopefully I'll even get to be fluent in it.

Well, my native language is lithuanian (I dare you to write a correct sentence with it), and I'm quite fluent in English (or so I think :) ), and can understand some German, Russian and Polish.
