Whats the difference between %absorb and +number absorb?

the % obsorbed is baised on damage while the +x obsorb only obsorbs that much damage from that spell/damage from items.UserMathias said:Whats the difference between %absorb and +number absorb?
If you didn't have full life, otherwise you'd take 14960 dmg.UserMathias said::scratch: So, if I get hit for 15000 fire damage, and I have +40 fire absorb, I take 14920 damage?
TheODB said:I have a question about % absorb because im still not clear on it.
1. I thought if you had 50% absorb it made you immune because it absorbed 50% of the dmg and healed you 50% back effectively doing no dmg to you.
But when i tested my theory it was wrong because i had 50% cold aborb on my druid and a cold sorc damaging me with only cold killed me.
2. Please explain to me how % cold aborb works.
