My first Matriarch, Ascaluyana the Blizzard sorceress
Hi all,
Yesterday was a big day, because I've matted my first char in Diablo 2 and it was a blizzard sorceress as the title says.
This toon was started at the 1.12 version, then somewhat abandonned, and when the 1.13 came out, I decided to go as far with her as it would be possible.
Normal
Easy. At first, this difficulty was done in the 1.12 patch so I decided to make her an orb-it-aller. But I left her in act 5 in the waiting of the 1.13 patch.
I hired an act 2 defensive merc (Azrael) for his defensive aura (so he can tank longer). My inventory was always full of blues potions :nod:
When the patch came out, I went to nightmare to respec her into a Blizzard sorceress, then went back to normal to do some baal runs until lvl 50.
Runes at forge : don't remember
All acts were played at players 8 but not the ancients, who were at players 1
Nightmare
Easy to medium
Played at players 8
All went down within seconds, so this difficulty was very easy. I made a stop by the countess, who dropped me some runes as the 4 socketed crystal sword for my spirit runeword.
At act 3, meph stop, don't remember all the items he dropped, but one was the lycander's aim, which could be useful as the my next char will be surely be a Fishyzon.
The worldstone keep was easy, the only problems I got there was my merc dying too much because of the baal minions wave, even with glacial spike, Lister can really hurt sometimes
I left nightmare at lvl 75 IIRC

Hell
Hard to very hard
Played at players 1
When I hit hell, the things weren't so funny as the other 2 difficulties. Full of cold immunes, FAST monsters (some of them move at the speed on my teleporting), so the majority of the hell difficulty, I was blind teleporting until I reached some waypoint and so on.
I made a stopped at hell meph when I runned him for some lvl and this is where he dropped some nice things as 2 arreat's face, lycander bow, titan's revenge, razortail, string of ears, etc. Unfortunely, no sorc items as I would expected like shako, oculus, vipermagi, etc.
Act 4 hell was litteraly hell. The most difficult part was the chaos sanctuary with all the curses that my merc and me were suffering and the cold immunes. Credits here goes to nagisafurukawa IIRC the pseudo, for the giveaway of an eth insight thresher (lvl 17 meditation), because I haven't any good weapon for my defensive merc (btw, this was the only twinked item). After spending several dozen of thousands gold, I hit act 5 hell.
Some areas are very difficult in this act, as the frozen river, the ancients and the 2nd baal's wave
Concerning the frozen river, this is what happened some times

So after some deaths, I managed to get the yeti stucked on the bridge so my merc could take them 1-on-1
When I was at the arrea summit, I thought I will never beat the ancients, but with teleporting in the corners and taking them one on one with blizzard everywhere (only Korlic was immune to cold, but my merc needed 5 minutes to take him down, even after static field), I managed somehow, (with BIG patience) to kill them. This was the most difficult part of the entire game I think (along with Diablo in normal difficulty maybe).
Then, the only problem I faced was the 2nd wave of baal's minions, with all the cold immunes skeletons, and my merc had not the "cannot be frozen" mod, so it was really a pain, I just teleported next to them to let my merc hit them.
The others waves weren't problematic ; blizzard take things down really fast (on players 1 of course).
I matted her at lvl 83
Hellforge : very lucky!
Really happy to see this rune (the highest I have) with the first char who went so far in hell :alright:

In conclusion, she was an enjoyable char to play and I hope it will be the begin of a long path to several others pat/mat (and later some guardians maybe, who knows?) :thumbup:
