I'm a former sorc mf'er from way back in the day (like 4 years ago), and want to make another one. I've read a lot about the blizzard fireball strats and stuff, but my last sorc at the time was a hydra sorc and I liked her a lot.
jUst wondering if any of you have an knowledge or first hand experience with using hydra, since I dont hear about it anymore I'm assuming its not great, but i'd still like to hear from ya!
I have done several hydra sorcs, they are great. But if you just want to kill andy and meph then make blizz sorc, its faster. Hydra sorc can kill those both even in full game but it takes longer.
So if you want just tele,tele,tele,tele,kill one monster, then hydrasorc is not for you.
It works best if you just run, yes, running sorc, so you have time to make those hydras. So just run, make hydra when timer is off, run, make another, then run little back and ambush following monsters with hydras and fireballs.
Full synergy hydras do about 2k with decent items, with skillers etc... much more. So all nonimmunes goes down just fine.
You need merc to handle those immunes, best one for this job IMO is act1 with harmony bow, threachery armor and giant skull helmet (for knockback).
This gives you vigor aura and solution to all immunes you find, and merc stays alive.
In nmare all areas are just fine. In hell you can solo almost any area.
But if you want to solo,exp and do mf in full games, then there are 3 great areas.
Act1: mausoleum (better one) and crypt. Easy to kill, no fire immunes there except random bosses (and rogue merc can handle those). Running there and making hydras is great there, area is like made for hydra sorc. Perfect, easy to survive and good drop and good exp from there.
Act2: whole far oasis and maggot lair lvls1-3. This kind of sorc can start these run at lvl50- easy to survive, at lvl60 you should have enough fire power for full games. Just make 3xort armor or something like that to get full lightning resist, only resist you need there.
This 'running sorc' is perfect too in maggot, just cast hydras around corners and cast fireballs between timered spell.
This is only PURE fire sorc that works just fine, static, tele are nice but not needed. Get static and tele from orb at low levels to max damage, later you can add points to there if you really really want to tele.
Double spirits (occy inside maggot lvl is not nice), vipermagi/3ort armor, +3circlet, +3amu, magefist, 2xnagels are just fine and cheap gear for this kind of sorc.
Make running sorc, those are fun and little different. To have double fun, never carry tp book or scrolls. This kind of sorc have enough fire power to kill all and no mana problems so not need to visit town during runs.
This is not cookie cutter sorc, but can kill just fine. Just avoid those areas where every 3rd monster is fire immune.
Dont try this kind of sorc, if you cant keep merc alive. Those fire immunes are too common even in 'fire immune free' areas.
(static and tele ruins this pure sorc, so try to avoid that temptation :evil: )
