Max Resistance?

This may be a stupid question but when i was playing last it was realy hard to get max res (unless you have white rings) anyway, seems like everybody has max res now. I understand that you will need some charms to up it and some good gear.

The big question is people say their mercs have max res too. They can only have a limited ammount of gear and no charms, and i know Hell drops res alot (or it used to). Is a marc with max res hard to get or does normal gear give it to him, They must have good res to start with?

Any info you can give me regarding res would be great.

Insert perfect diamonds into shields, and insert Um's into Merc's armor and helmet. If you have no shield, or still cannot boost your resists, you can also use Um'ed armor for your char, but sometimes there are more valuable things for sockets.

wasn't white rings used back in .09? Now there are both anni and torch giving potentially +40 res all

Merc res increases by about 1.5 per level. So at level 80, they will have about 120 points of res without gear. Adding some basic gear such as Duriel's Shell will max their resistances pretty quickly :)

Yeah its easier to keep your merc's res high than it is yours.... they get the level boost for res while you don't.

I don't think that it was ever difficult to achieve 75% res since we have LoD. Even in 1.07 you just needed 3 cheap items to have maximum resists, e.g. Wizardspike, Moser's with pdiamonds and the Smoke runeword and that's just what came to my mind when thinking about it for a few seconds.

Alright so basic (good) gear on a merc should top him off no wories. im not overly concerned about me as the merc should be taking the brunt of it but most of my gear will have MF in it as this will be my first char MF bliz sorc. Thxs for all the help realy appreciate it.
