Mat Synthia - 82 trapassin

Finally finished my olde trapassin. I first made her a long time ago, when 1.10 first came out, she was my first synergized character. But at first her gear had really poor resists, she used Fade for normal and NM resists. So I parked her in act 1 hell, waiting for better gear.

Even though i no longer play HC, I still think like it, so the idea of running around hell with neg resists scared me.

But a year or so later, with some new gear, I got some new (over) confidence and decided to finish up. Started rolling, got over-confident, and got killed in late act 1 somewhere (cat?) by some boss pack that was LI. maybe ghosts. I cant remember. That put me in a funk about the character and I didn't play her for another year.

But with the d3 announcement, I wanted to make sure to finish her before the next one came out. Durial was a bit scary since I was running around trying to resummon shadows and traps fast enough without being charged to death. But then suddenly he keel'd over (I hadn't been watching his health bar). Meph and Diablo were pretty easy, i just spammed traps and stayed away from their big attacks.

Ancients, I had to reroll once, got 2 LI. After reroll, 2 CI/FI, but only 1 LI. So I kited in circles, spamming traps and waited for the 2 to drop. The thrower was left, I was able to keep shadows summoned on him and lob fire bombs.

WSK was tough. A few levels had the frenzy taurs, and the first level had them LI They forced me to SAVE/EXIT. I took a break at that point, and today when I came back it was a different set of monsters.

Rocked WSK4, the Oblivs aren't LI and all I had to do was keep my merc away and let the traps do their work. The boss in the 5th wave of minions was FI/LI so I could do nothing vs him, had to let merc kill.

Gear is quite good, I've been playing for a long time. The SoJs were gambled back when that was still possible:

I used mostly LS and firebombs through NM, where I was on /players 8. In hell switched to players 1, so I used DS more and more.

I guess you mean Fire Blast instead of "Firebomb" ?

What was your damage numbers? Especially Lightning Sentry and Fire Blast? Interested, because my trapsin is in normal act5, lvl 47 now :)

er, yes, fire blast.

my damage: +13 traps skill
fire blast: 2201-2624
DS: 1-2339
LS: 1-4181

(+10 traps skill -- without 2 soj and without +1 trap skill charm)
Fire blast: 1676-2026
DS: 1-1992
LS: 1-3479

These includes the synergy from 15 clicks in CBS also.

Levelling, I think I concentrated on getting all the prereqs and then focused on maxing LS in normal. Then at the end of normal and in NM I started maxing fire blast for the LI's Fire blast gets synergies from LS so its damage started getting decent. It's a bit awkward to use for a main attack, for but a backup it was fine.

After LS and Fire blast was maxed, I sort of gradually pumped up DS and shadow master. I didn't find cloak of shadows fit my playstyle, and having both the merc and the shadow to keep lightning immunes in place allowed me to drop fire blasts on them.

I forget exactly when I fit in mental blast, but it was good for helping my merc out when things like udars would stunlock him.

I've got one myself and they are great fun however I went for full light dmg and 1 pt SM, 10 to FB.

Keep working at her and the numbers start to become really impressive.

Congrats on the mat.

How well did FB face against Lightning immunes? Part of the reason I deleted a trapassin I started before was because I had quite a bit of trouble against LIs even in late nightmare and thus had severe doubts as to her viability in MFing areas once she was matted.

Also, Brimstone Stalker is sick. Too bad the Cold Resists aren't Fire

On players 1, in Hell, I would have to throw like 3-4 firebombs on things like LI snakes in the act 5 ice caves. That would kill the 2-3-4 around my merc, and then the death sentry would CE and kill the rest.

some things would have more fire resist and I was throwing like 8+ at them. Vs the ancients, I threw an entire mana bar (400+ mana) at him before I dropped the thrower.

Personally, I found it worked pretty good, for what I needed it to. But not good enough that it would ever be more than a backup.

ps. the damage number above should give you some basic idea. LS was hittinh for 1-4k (2k average) per shot, and I was doing about the same amount of damage with a fire bomb. but of course, firebombs don't shoot 10 shots each.
