making an Elf

k so i'm plannig these skills for a LOTR elf-themed physical ranger:

20 fanaticism for speed and damage and accuracy
20 blessed aim for accuracy
4 zeal incase they get to close.
ordinary prereqs and utility skills

right now I'm using a buriza which I know isn't very 'elvish' but it's too good not to use.

I have Stormspike stilleto on my zeal switch which is really cool to see him use, and it's blue glow fits the theme great, tho eventually i'm sure I'll have to upgrade to a good runeword knife or sword.

my question is, since I am going to have about 29 skill points left over before I enter Hell, what would be more 'Elvish'?

here are my thoughts:

20 FoH 1 conviction rest in holy shock
occasionally you can call upon great natural powers

20 prayer rest in cleansing
"elvish healing"

max sanctuary and rest in zeal
nice anti-undead switch

rejected ideas:
holy bolt as a spell to use or a synergy
an elemental aura
hammers
any physical damage skill

I'm leaning towards FoH as seemingly the most useful, but I also find that I use cleansing alot. any suggestions?

also, what armor should I replace Twitchthroe with?
 
A few concerns I have from a quick glance:

1. With a level 4 zeal, your attack rating will probably be too low do have a decent to hit %.
2. How would you have Fanatacism and Blessed Aim active at once?
 
blessed aim gives a 5% passive ar bonus

eagle horn or windforce would be cool to use

im assuming thsi is pvm

how about goldstrike?

is cleansing really worth more than 1 point? I wouldn't think so, but if you went a FoH route you could max Holy Shock as well and have an alternate aura that might be fun

unless I have a lot of AR on the bow itself, I'll actually have better AR when I switch to zeal since it comes with an AR bonus

if not, i've only wasted 3-4 points.

and yes, this is a PvM softcore build

anyone know where i can look up monster curse durations?

nah i'm pumping dex for the bow anyway so with a decent enough sheild I won't have any block problems

rest in prayer with prequiresite at cleansing

or you can go the zeal/vengance route and have like 4ish in zeal and rest into vengence and synergies.

sounds like it'll be fun for p v m. hopefully you can get a a wf
on switch if you go zeal/vengence route hoz + cresent moon zerker or pb or cyrptic for the static.

I started down the "elvish healing" route
I wanted to do FoH but i need to see how good cleansing really is. seems to help in chaos sanctuary and baal's throne room
gained 6 levels tonite (54-60) getting waypoint boosted from meph to ancients. didn't see meph unfortuantely, but diablo went down pretty fast, that might've been mostly the orb sorc tho. Ancients were a bear, i'll definitely need a new dagger or sword. only lost my merc once in CS and once to ancients. buriza just tears up CS.

saw a kuko ranger today but he left the game before i had a chance to talk to him. only other ranger i've seen in a long time.

next weekend i'm gonna do some baal runs, solo the back quests, and work on my gear
 
use a fleshripper on zeal switch, and use your extra points into zeal/sac, to boost ar, dmg, and effectiveness with your switch, you should have good ar already with 20 points into bs, that gives a passives 100% boost

well i think you should use widomaker since it give guild which mean you don't need ar at all
also i think you might be able to to find one if your locky in NL since Ladder was reseted before
 
hammer varient might be solid as well. cast hammer field and kill off the things on the very back of the crowd. the monsters that approach will get smacked in the face hard. lol

problem wtih widowmaker is that the damage is low, maybe not with concentration aura on though, not too sure. but wf would be better p vm wise. add a razortail and youve got a sweet elf.

Since when did the Elves start using hammers? If you wanted to stay true to form, you of course use widowmaker as the elves have uncanny aim and then zealot gear on switch just like LOTR when they were getting swamped in the 2nd movie.
 
that's exactly the reason I rejected the hammer varient...

Thinking about Fury and Wind daggers in addition to Fleshripper and Ghostflame. Also it looks like I get five runeword choices for bows: botd, cta, hoj, passion, and silence. CTA and PAssion are probably more in my price range. botd==rejected because of the poison.

is Razortail the only way to get off weapon pierce?
 
a fury fanged knife would be nice, only downside is no matter how much ias dagger class weaps can only reach 5 frames, but htis way you wouldnt have to wear so much ias gear in order to reach 4 frames, cause you could just hit the 5 frame breakpoint and quit, but you would want ias for you bow switch, i would like the conc widowmaker build with fury fanged knife and hoz on switch
