lightning trapsin advice pls

OK i admit it ive overlooked the Assassin class so far but can't wait to get to grips with this (to me) unknown char type.

Hmmmm..... Ok here goes... Firstly I guess i play waaaaaay to much and can be classed as an extreme baaler - I have 2 chars at 99 and a real high 98 so far this season. One outcome of all this baaling is a naked level 94 Assassin with all skillpoints and attributes free and i want to make this my next minion/baal killer. I play either in a small group or self baal 4 chars at a time and so have found an amazing treasuretrove of items (only time i trade is reluctantly when making runewords) with which to equip her.

As i have the infinity runeword (and a nec with Lower resist) i can overcome pretty much all immunities and was thinking of that maxing the lightning damage would be the way to go.

jrichard's Lightning trapsin guide seems a great place to start but that was aimed at an untwinked Sass and i guess mine is anything but...

As this is pretty much the only real unexplored area of D2 left to me i am hoping the Assassin class will give me a new lease of life with the game and who knows i might even make a team of Assassin baalers if i get hooked!!

Ok heres the thing tho - given all of the above and the need to keep the games as quick as possible which skill do i need to concentrate on? what block rate will i need (if any) to stay pretty immune to baal himself and any other general advice/tactics you think i will need.. Go easy on me tho.. i really know next to nothing about this class. Oh and I find it second nature to control 2 chars at once as long as im not switching skills constantly and yep the char will pretty much be baal exclusive..
 
Get the trappers wet dream claw. +3 Traps with +3 LS. Any other mods will make the value go sky high especially if there is another mod to MB. +2 Sin skills with +3 LS is another price breaker.

Use these 2 claws and get other + skill items . With decent +skills (which trappers can get lots of) you can get about 50% weapon block with just 1 point. Get at least 50% FCR so you can MB lock your targets and let the traps do the work.


If wealth isn't a problem, get at least +20 to traps skills. With an addition of +6 to LS from both claws, a max synergied LS should be around 11.1k dmg. Factor in 5 traps with 10 shots each and you know you will be hurting.
 
ok Thx.. I will equip tomorrow when i can think more clearly... I kinda guessed the offensive side would be best given the a2 meatshields i have.

I haven't yet had that wet dream find ..:laugh: but i guess i have had a little excitement along the way with a 2 sin 2 ls which will be better than most.. i may have to start shopping for that killer 2nd claw tho..but its not essential straight away i guess given a high end light sorc will be working the throne with this char.

Actually i cant wait for the next ladder.. the real skill in this game is baaling quickly after day 2 or 3 with virtually no equipment - Huge fun. At the moment the only risk i'm taking is a disconnect possibility when my telesorc lands in something nasty.. or getting a little careless with the occasional boss doll.

It will be interesting to see how the Sin compares with a LF zon and the light sorc for quickness and robustness. if it shapes up i may have found the main part of my season 4 project...
 
To speed up Baal, either a Merc with CB or a few points invested in Dragon Talon (use Life Tap) will help.

Exactly what this sin needs to do is very dependant on your party. They are flexible enough to fit almost any missing roll.
