Lawbringer: a toothless enforcer?

AmnLemKo on swords/hammers/scepters

20% ctc lvl 15 Decrepify on striking
lvl 18 Sanctuary aura when equipped
-50% target's defense
+ 150-210 fire dmg
+ 130-180 cold dmg
7% life stolen per hit
Slain monsters resit in peace
+ 200-250 defense vs missile
+10 Dexterity
75% extra gold from monsters

Some nice mods esp the Decrepify & Sanctuary Aura. Even has life leech thrown in. But what's wrong with the picture?

That's right. No enhanced damage, not even crushing blow! Lol, what were the Blizz runewizards thinking ('drinking'?) when they came up with this one?

Does anyone of you use this runeword at all, e.g. on switch do you think it's a lemon? Very much in the vein of Wind (Sur EL). I can only think of using it in Meph runs to knock back the pesky dolls in Durance 2.
 
I would think that it would be OK as an off-hand weapon for a dual weilding Barb. An Enchantress could use it. A Battlemaid type Amazon could use it. A Druid could certainly use it in Bear or Wolf form. And virtually any Paladin could gain some use with the right base Sceptre.

Remember that this game is NOT all about cookie cutter builds. Most people do not seem to think for themselves when it comes to building a character so we have hundreds of characters all dressed in identical equipment with identical skill allocation. An Amazon does not need massive amounts of IAS to be Hell viable. A Barbarian does not need to max BO to be Hell viable. A Paladin does not need to max Holy Shield to be Hell viable. Lawbringer does not need to have %ed to be a Hell viable weapon. It seems most people take these new runewords and use them to make strong builds stronger with no thought as to how they can make weak builds more competetive. ANY BUILD can make good use of this weapon if they are also using Fortitude or Phoenix.
 
I've never used it .. but the only thing I can think of it's potential use is for a switch weapon for the ctc decrep for boss running. Have your merc outfitted with the crushing blow (Hone Sundan, Guillame's Face, <insert new runeword here>) and then run up to the boss and whack it a few times with a fast weapon and when ctc decrep triggers ... sit back/whatever.

Maybe good for an amazon ... maybe. Although there are other ways to get decrep (charges from items iirc) but you won't get level 15 though.

The runes are all very accessible. No 3 Jahs or nothing. The amn everyone can find but the lem and ko will take some time or from Hellforge. Of course on the realms it's a different story.

but it would be unbelievably slow. There's absolutety no IAS on the weapon at all which would be death for a druid. A maul bear using this weapon would swing at 18 frames:( and a Fury wolf would have 14/8 Fury..

Being different just for the sake of being different doesn't really serve a purpose in my book. If one weapon is better than the other I'll take it. Lawbringer is nice because it can cast Decreipify which has it's uses, and for the low rune cost. Even with Fortitude and Phoenix the damage will be low, because the base damage is nothing to speak about. It will be doable, but if you can get Fortitude & Phoenix you sure as hell can get a better weapon than Lawbringer too.

The Pindle merc idea also sounds rather cool.
 
well it's cheap, adds elemental dmg and magic damage to undead. otherwise the decrep is pretty cool. a weapon to keep on switch for decrep and have fun with sanctuary (720 ed to undead seriously kicks butt)

Quite good for Assa Kickers (dtalon), they don't need weapon ED, make it in a longsword of phaseblade and you need very little off weapon IAS with burst of speed and you got a nice weapon.

Sanctuary is only good for knocking undead back, and setting their physical resist to 0%. The added ed% vs undead doesn't work.
 
I am thinking that it can be used to put on a baba merc to stay alive in the chaos sanctuary. IM won't hurt him much, because the physical dmg is so low, but he can still deal magic dmg and mods from armor and helm (duress gives cb, ow).
 
its a funny way to clean up chaos sanctuary in normal too. Equip any barb with two of these, and enjoy a lvl36 aura killing the entire sanctuary (except for the venom lords) before you even see them coming. Great for boosting, that is ;)
Also very effective for ranged pindlerunners, like zons or sorcs or whatever. its not bad at all.
 
Since the highest rune in it is a lem, they arn't costly.

It's an interesting runeword. A barb with two lawbringers might be fun, running around act 2 tombs.

I suggest passion if you want to use a lem.
 
Maybe you can make a dedicated Mausoleum/Pindle runner?
If lvls of "Aura when equipped" and paladin's own aura stack, you can get an insane lvl 50+ Sanctuary.
This can be a Paladin with Zeal, Cleansing (synergy), Sanctuary (of course), Redemtion for quick corpse removal in Pindle's garden.

Those don't stack, only the highest Slvl aura applies.

iirc auras only stack if they are from items AND no points are spent in the skilltree. a holy bolter/cleric should be a better option here sending every undead to hell with 1 hit.

if RTB is right (what he usually is) and %ed to undead doesn't work...
is only ed to undeab bugged. seen quite a few threads about "%ed to demons"-builds

The Slvl of auras from items simply add up, no special rules there.

The +% Dmg to undead on Sanctuary doesn't work.

Voice: Not that good. The Sanctuary won't do a thing and the decripify would need a bigger radius to be effective enough in the cow lvl.
