Lag Problem

I am having a problem with my connection to Diablo 2. I have never had a problem before but the last 4 days everything to do with the Diablo 2 program is lagging. It takes like 7 seconds after hitting the stash for it to open. It takes for ever to log in. Has anyone else dealt with issue in the past. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you experiencing a constant NON STOP "7 seconds" of lag or does it come in sporadic bursts? I ask because just a month ago I had that happen to me. Every 20-30 seconds I would lock up for 5-10 seconds at a time <-- not exaggerating. I had just came back to the game and was going to try hardcore out but that ruined it completely for me. Almost made me uninstall again it was so bad. I didn't do anything different to my computer or download anything new, it just started happening. Then about a week ago it suddenly stopped :alright: Now it just locks up for a lil bit when I join a new game. After a few minutes it clears itself up. I think my comp is haunted :scratchchin:

It is a constant lag from trying to log on to Bnet all the way to playing the game.

could be many things

where are you connecting from?
are you downloading stuff in the background?

I am using my home internet, which is part of University of California Irvine Network. I have been using it for months with no problems and then out of no where this started.

I restarted my computer, nothing downloading and still lag.

You may be laggin... but you ain't stealing my cookies!

What kind of connection do you have? How powerful is your computer (or the way "normal" users prefer it, how old is your computer?)? Maybe you are running too much junk in the background that occupy your CPU/GPU/Internet Connection.

My lights started going dim and come back on when the entire neighbourhood plugged in their hair dryers at the same time. See the analogy?

It is a relatively new laptop. I don't think it is the computer because I have been playing for months with the same computer on the same network. I thought maybe it was a congested connection the first time but now it has been almost a week.

Yeah i used to get this while playing on Bnet too D;

It took at least 15 clicks to use stash/tp/merchant ect.

Really painfully irritating.

Thanks for all the help. I emailed the school resnet and they said they changed something that might have caused it and made some adjustments. I was already reinstalling when i got the answer but now it works. I don't know what fixed it but it works.
