[L] Lite Sorc Equip Question

So I have a Lite sorc, maxed sinergies etc. I was wondering what is the best equip to use? When is it better to use a bunch of 55 facets, and when is it better to use +skill equips? Assume you're the richest person in d2, cause this is ideal gear to shoot for.

Crescent Moon, Griffons, +3 light ammy, magefist, 2x soj, infernostride, spirit shield, CoH, torch / anni / 8 lightning gcs. Merc with infinity.

Its almost never better to use "a bunch of 55 facets" in PvE at least, because with conviction from Infinity you will already get many monsters down to -100% res with Crescent / Griffons.

You Also do not want to exceed 87,000 damage due to rollover, as that is the cap. If you have high lightning damage and factor in -res it is very easy to hit this cap.

Due to these two reasons it is best to have a balance between +skills gear and -res.

With the equipment I listed above, I am sitting at 39.5k Lightning and -58% res + conviction. Seems a good mix. I avoid capping out, but I do max out -res on monsters with almost no res. Though I do much more damage to monsters that are broken immunes (which are the hardest to kill usually).

If I cannot get a griffons, is a shako the next best subsititute? My gear for my light sorc:

enchutas - perf (after light facet)
ap enigma
28 maras
34% spirit mon
trang gloves
arachs
soj
fcr ring
silkweaves

merc:
infiinty
eth duress
no helm yet

I haven't started leveling her yet though.

Well, I've only 4 hrs left. I'm not sure if I can get a super low griffons for that. But, I'll hold out some hope.

Aren't 20/2/2os expensive?

I wrote a post about this a while back that I had to use google to find (didnt show up in a forum search...).

Basically, if your damage is too high you rollover and do not get the benefit of that damage. If you did 90,000 damage you would actually do only 3,000 damage.

This is why I say a balance is best. -Res excels for broken immunes, but when conviction is in play will cap out at -100 for up to around 55% give or take based on the amount of -res.

The hardest to kill monsters are the ones with broken res however, and damage scales exponentially on those with good -res. A sorc with little -res would have a VERY difficult time of killing a broken immune even with conviction, 60k damage or not. A sorc with much lower base damage would kill broken immunes at near the same speed as any other monster.

I made a spreadsheet to calculate comparisons so that I could quickly and accurately compare gear, because I was looking for maximum ACTUAL damage, not maximum LCS damage. It could use some tweaking but its close enough. Specifically I truncate damage rather than rolling it over. Changing it to reflect average damage instead of max would probably be helpful as well.
