Key Hunting - Countess ; Location of Tower

Is there any easy way to locate the Forgotten Tower?
I've found a way to find the entrance on each map once I find the tower itself. But my "problem" right now is that it seems to be randomly placed in each game I create.

I was just wondering if anyone found anything which could pinpoint you where it's located once you make a new game?

I know it's a longshot, but I'm hoping someone has anything they can tell me.

I usually tele so that the outer edges of the Black Marsh is kind of visible on the automap. It works for me.

Thanks for the fast reply. I will have to try that as well :)

Anyone else with more suggestions/ideas?

just a question how do you find it :=) i run the countess alot butas far as i can se the lvls of the tower don't have much incommen only that your best chance is to always go clockwies like at mephs :=)

Best way to try and describe it is that if the path from where you enter tower is pointing upwards (North) then you need to rotate the map
x3 times, in clockwise order, so the entrance to next level is West.

If the path is going east, then the entrance is located to the North
Works 98% of the times.

Same "technique" works for mephisto maps as well.
It's hard to describe but if you want me to, I can show in a game

I'm playing on USAEAST Ladder Sc.

i get it :=) same as meph maps :=) that's usaly what i do to:=) than :=) for finding the tower i usaly just folow the edge of the map and most of the time it pops up there :=)

with experience you can tell from the architecture within the tower where the stairs are going to be.

to find the tower, i often find that the tower is fairly close to the wp, but not in a predictable direction. so i use a spiral pattern to find it, first looking around the immediate wp and then skirting the edge of the map.

You know, I tried to describe this way back when, in a meph post about finding the steps. The above is true and it's more precise than "go left". Although hanging a left usually works. . . .

I don't know exactly how to find the countess tower - yet. However, I'm working on what I hope will become an exhaustive and definitive guide to the maps of Diablo 2. I'm going to put up a post about it here in the community forum, along with the one I have in the statistics forum.

If there's a pattern to finding countess's tower, I'll find it - and when I put the guide up it'll describe exactly how to find the next level down with ease.

I've found that a combination of intuition and technique is the best way to go. Personally, I pick a direction that feels lucky (always N, S, E, or W) and I go in a straight line until I hit a wall. As soon as I do I turn 90 degrees and head off in a straight line again. You can very quickly cover the board this way and for me its led to finding the tower much faster than when I followed the edges of the board. But then again sometimes instinct says follow the edges and well, instinct knows best. I think your brain is somehow able to pick up on nuances of the maps subconsciously after enough runs. It seems like I know the right way to go without any specific reason for it. Other players have noted the same phenomenon.
