Iron Golem Damage on One or Two Handed

Does Iron Golem damage on weapons with two damage listings, both one-handed and two-handed become calculated on the one-handed function or the two-handed function? (If / Else)

I am planning to switch to from Fire to Iron Golem on Golemancer build when enough wealth is accumulated. Certain weapons like Colossus Blades and Swords have dual-wield ratings.

Fire Golem does excellent damage but damage-wise it is only worth it if the Attack Rating can be boosted high enough, since the 15-frame delay would come in vain if the Golem misses (and it does often on a low level Summoner without proper gearing); the unavoidable 15-frame AI delay for next attack is no problem if there is a successful hit or even a Critical hit, but it will be an issue if the Golem misses.

Iron Golem, on the other hand can benefit from +Attack Rating mods from weapons (unverified) but has a less penalty ratio when it misses - If you make an Iron Golem out of an Aura-Granting item then whether it misses or not in the 15 frame delay it should not matter since 1) the damage is very good any way and 2) the Aura is always active for the entire army and possible teammates.

Re: Iron Golem Damage on One or Two Handed

I've asked several times about the effect of the item made into Iron Golem and have been politely rebuffed in each. I can only assume the base stats for IGolem are irrelevent and only act as a targetting effect, with affixes having limited enhancement (self-repair or replenish means faster healing, but 'of the Ages' and indestructable mean nothing). If the case is otherwise, then that would be a rather rude awakening to the actual purpose of those posts.

Re: Iron Golem Damage on One or Two Handed

It has been said many times that item that you make IG of has the effect on the IG as if the IG equipped that item. Since only barbarians can hold two handed weapons in one hand IG is holding it in two hands and therefore the damage is the one listed for two-handed combat. Correct me if I'm wrong on this one, it's pure theorycrafting, I haven't done any tests in game.

Re: Iron Golem Damage on One or Two Handed

Im certain some attributes carry, such as crushing blow. I'm also sure that %enhanced damage/defense carries through. An iron golem has pretty crappy starting damag/defense anyway so I think it wouldnt make too much of a difference.
The crushing blow, however, makes a hige difference against a boss, especially if you teleport stack into the boss and he doesnt pick on the golem first

Re: Iron Golem Damage on One or Two Handed

Antonio is entirely correct. Also most mods tend to work on an IG. Exceptions are anything to do with mana, anything to do with the four attributes, minion summoning procing mods and oskills.

Re: Iron Golem Damage on One or Two Handed

I do think the iron golem does get the oskills, just that he doesn't use them.

Or, if you make him from an item with a passive oskill, like peace, he won't get crit?

Re: Iron Golem Damage on One or Two Handed

I love making them out of insight sticks... Only expense is a Sol rune and a 4os polearm. The golem uses the aura meditation. Now if I could just put a leash on him it would be great.
