if your cd key gets banned, does it ban both d2 classic and xp cd keys?

my close friends account got hacked, and unfortuneately the hacker musta used some kind of 3rd party program when he used his account cause his cd key got banned

now he is wondering if it bans both d2 classic and lod cd key when you get banned? anyone know?

thanks

it is actually the classic key that is banned.

Blizzard only checks one(1) key if you connect to battle.net. I'm not sure if it's the classic or the lod one.

So there's only one key that's banned. You'll have to check which one by installing diablo with those keys seperately.

I'll be honest when I say I'm skeptical of your friends story. To begin with it's difficult as it is to get your account "hacked", without actually downloading some third party program or visiting some website that you shouldn't.

Also, if the account was hacked, and then the hacker used some third party programs in (presumably) the short time he spent on the account, it's pretty convient that Blizzard picked up on it right there. I mean, some people use hacks for months before getting banned.

Finally, assuming Blizzard was watching this account in the short time-frame that the hacks were being utilised, I believe that it would have been the hacker's CD-Key that would have been banned, not your friends. Sure, there's a chance that Blizzard might have banned all CD-Keys associated with an account, but that doesn't seem to happen all the time, since I remember logging into an old old friends account once, and he was later banned for hacking (against my knowledge), yet I was untouched.
