Hybrid Enchantress: tell me what you think

I just wanted to try this as a thought experiment, tell me if I'm missing the point anywhere:

FO-Enchantress

20 Warmth
20 FM
20 FO
1 CM
20 TK
20 ES
1 TP
prereqs

you'll notice no points spent in Enchant, oddly enough :)

Equip:

Passion PB + Spirit
Obedience on switch
Guillaume's
Goblin Toe
Usual other stuff for enchantress with resists, +skills, IAS, etc.

The ideas to start with Obedience for L21 enchant (saving you the 20 point investment), then switch to use Passion for +Zeal with high CB from Goblin and Guillaume's to quickly whittle away target's life, till the fire damage from Enchant can finish them off, while relying on synergized ES for defense and Berserk for magic-resistant toughies. You'll also have a decent FO, so you can chill crowds and do some decent cold damage and be able to attack from range, as well. Probably a Prayer merc with Insight for the mana regen since you're an ES build.

What do you think? Would it be too weak in Hell spreading your points so thin? Better off just going full-on melee sorc or full-on elemental sorc?

Re: Hybrid Enchantress: tell me what you think

Any reason you can't use a Demon Limb?

Re: Hybrid Enchantress: tell me what you think

oh, no acutally...thought it was lower level enchant than that. Demon Limb instead of Obedience seems easier then, yes

Re: Hybrid Enchantress: tell me what you think

Yeah, DemonLimb > Obedience in this case, especially since your AR will suck without Enchant, so getting the first kill could be tedious with Obedience. You can use the DemonLimb in town for the immediate AR boost, and utilize your weapon-switch for something more useful (CtA?) "in the field".

A few thoughts:
1. Considering all the prereq skills, your build is "finished" at level ~97+ with your current skillpoint layout. That's obviously pretty high, so I'd spend your points in ES last, since that's the one skill where you're least-hindered by a lack of "hard" points invested.

2. For a sorc that's going to melee with a PhaseBlade, I really don't like a Spirit shield... The base blocking sucks, but more importantly, you'll have a lot of dex tied up to equip your weapon. And if you go with ES you'll probably want to dump as much as you can in Ene (maybe a few in Vit too). Spirit shields require so much strength that it'd take away - a lot - from what you can spend elsewhere.

Since you'll already have lots of Dex for the Phaseblade, I'd probably look at a max-block shield. With ES, my first choice would likely be an upgraded Visceratuant... 72% base blocking (upgraded) and +1 skill seem like a natural fit.

3. The thing about Enchant is that you gain soooo much damage from having a bunch of +skills on a prebuff. Using DemonLimb or Obedience means that you can't prebuff your casting level, so the damage you have will never exceed a certain (mediocre) point. Tying into this...

4. I did try something moderately similar once: Nova + LM, FM + Warmth, with Obedience... It definitely worked for single player, but it wasn't anything spectacular. Without a shield & ES I lacked a lot of the defensive abilities you'll have, but I didn't find the my power especially great. As a "novelty-build", it's a good idea, but I'm doubtful you'll be entirely satisfied with your findings. In my case, I got bored sometime in early Hell and simply teleported through to the hellforge and deleted her after that.

... that said, I have a soft-spot on my heart for novelty-builds, so I'd be glad to see you try it, enjoy it, and succeed.
