Humerous Rant - MH for Tal's Armor?

Over the weekend I had a prosperous set of runs - Tal's Armor, Arreats Face and a darn near perfect Titans. Which led me to jump online last night before the start of "Heroes" and try my luck again.

I squeeze in a couple Pit runs, nothing exciting dropped and on any. On my last run, a Sorc enters the game. Greetings are exchanged. She hangs out in Act 1 and asks me if I'm Mf'in. I clear out the hole and respond "yup". I make a portal and enter town and I'm immediately tackled with a trade window.

Sorc "What did you find?"
Me "Nothing, what do you need?"
Sorc "Got any sorc gear?"
Me "Yup, not on this char though?"
Sorc "Got Tals armor?"
Me "yes"
Sorc "Go get pls"
Me "It's on a norm char"
Sorc "Go get I want to see"
Me "What do you have for it"

She shows Ormus Robe, Strides, +1 sorc ammy, a Key of Destruction, %7 smfc, and some other stuff.

Me "nty" and I exit the window.
Me "I don't need any of that, thanks"

Sorc "You have MH?"
Me "No, all my stuff is legit"
Sorc "That's what they all say"
Me "No, I been playing for a while, I don't need MH"
Sorc "You have to have MH in order to find Tal's"

Me "lol" :doh:

Sorc has left the game Diablo's minions weaken

Has it really come to this in Diablo? I know there are a lot of legit players that enjoy the game. But 95% of the ones I've been running into are generally clueless to the fact that some people actually like play the game.

I'm on US East. If there is a channel that I can get in that has legit players, I'd love to join. PM please if there is such a thing.

I know exactly how you feel. People strongly suggest that you need to cheat to be good at this game.

The classic bit is when rushing newbs, right after killing the summoner in A2, I can quickly deduce whats the correct tomb by finding out which is the missing symbol and tele there before the newbs ask.

Then they say: MH?

Other times its exactly what you say - I haven't got uber great gear but when some people see they say "how much £ did that cost you" or "what MH you using?"
 
Everyone knows that Tal's armor only drops on mh island, and you can only get there if you have mh. Duh!!! lawl? Nub!!!
All kidding aside, a few months ago I would loved to have played with you, unfortunately I've pretty much abandoned the franchise until 3 comes out. Two resets in a row without effective anti-hack patches is enough for me when there's other games to kill my time with. There's to many punks on Diablo2 these days and they just wear you down after a while. They did me at least.

I agree 99% of Bnet players are inexperience noobs, who just want to rush, scam, hack and cheat their way through the game but there is hope.

I talked with a newbie in the chatroom. He needed some advice and help with his first build so I made a game and invited him to join, so that we could talk without interuption.

He had a noob friend who had told him he needed this eq and these skills, that ridiculously expensive runeword etc for his Windy. He was totally lost, running around NM with totally rubbish gear, dying right left and centre.

I am no expert on Druids, but managed to advise him on a few cheaper alternatives to the gear he was after, telling him to start small and build up.

He offered me his 'prize' possession, an Um rune in exchange for some low level gear I had on my mule, didn't ask me for any free or a rush. I traded him a Jalal, a Crafted Druid amu and an Earthshaker for his Um btw.

So there is hope. He seemed the type to develop into a good legit player, and hopefully he can help out someone else in the same way someday.

In stark comparison was the guy who wanted my Tal set for a load of noob eq this morning, using block capitals saying PLZPLZPLZPLZ INEEDINEEDINEED. He then said hurry up I'm late for school, needless to say I was not as generous to this kid.

There are good guys out there, both old and new. Trouble is we're outnumbered about 100 to 1.

It's unfortunate that most people have given up playing the game properly. It seems that the 'game' now is to get to level 90 as quickly as possible and have all the best gear straight away. Personally, I prefer to work through slowly. Baal runs are boring!

Right, that tal's armor in chaos sanctuary needed a hack to get to... Honestly, running straight for the exit isn't the best way to get items. I mean if you see every monster in hell as a potential HOZ or skiller charm, then things could change. :p

Unforunately, MH use is very prevalent in bnet so that it's almost considered standard behavior, at least in seasons past. You may remeber in pubbie games there's always someone asking for someone with mh, oh you know, the guy that tells you you're going the wrong way upon entering the level. Or idiots that complain because you teleport 1.5 seconds slower to Baal. Not that it matters since bots will do it anyways. Blah. A lot of people I know irl use it as well. Not that it's really necessary to cheat in a game like this. Some will say it saves them time because crap gets boring, but if it's really that boring then there's an even better way to not waste time. Don't play the game! Games are naturally a waste of time, you know. ;)

But then again, the average loudmouth cretin on the realms is no expert on statistics, probability, or well... anything. I put in loudmouth because deep down I'm hoping the idiots that talk out the same place they fart are overshadowing people that are, well, just playing the damned game.

Oh btw, judging by the title I thought he was gonna try trading you a maphack for tal's armor. :p

Psh, maphack. The only time I would actually need it is in Durance of Hate and in a lesser way: Arcane Sanctuary.

This game is way too easy anyways, and uber runeword/rares/uniques only give efficiency, and is not needed.

And I like baal runs, lots of stupid people that forgot to program their bots to auto-quit on hostile.

lol, that's funny. Pits and the tunnels are so easy to find, you don't need a MH for that :D

Sometimes I can't even locate Rogue Encampment without my trusty Maphack and Town-Finder bot.

The OP is why I don't make public mf games. There's lots of nice people out there, but there's enough annoying people that it's not worth talking to the average stranger on bnet.

Here we go guys, DiabloII played in 2008.

Noob rules. You must.........

1. Use MH, you won't find your way out of town without it.
2. Get all your gear from your BaalBot, Don't go to the trouble of actually playing the game and finding it it yourself.
3. Use a cookiecutter build and must not deviate from it. Heaven forbid you actually think about startegy and try something new.
4. Treat everyone you come across on Bnet with the uttmost contempt.
5. Scam as many people as you can.
6. Beg for free and rush as much as possible.
7. Spit your dummy out and rant at legit players who will not trade you their top end gear for duped crap.


Anyone got any more?

Apologies for the emmense sarcasm in this post, but these noobs are really starting to hack me off.

Are you making these games yourself? How are you going to make it so the bots come into your game rather than making their own games to MF/Baal in?

Ah, true.

Would have to find a clan channel that the bots proudly spam, figure out there game names and numbering sequence.

theres a thread in the barb forum discussing the most effective bot hunter. Quite interesting read actually. Back to topic, i hate it when creating a game called "go act3" or something its immediatly crowded, but when creating "act3 NO RUSH" im all by myself...

too bad, act 3 is so fun as well.. when actually playing through the short (:P) stretch that is the act before making it to travincal..

In my experience any type of cheating actually makes you not as good at any game as if you had not cheated. When I came back to D2 (the first time :rolleyes:) I was in school (so no time) and had buddies who spent all their time on D2 and had high level chars with godly gear. I had a good job and figured, "hey I can afford $20 in high runes to buy me some decent gear with." Long story short, I didn't play very long for two reasons after that: 1. I died a lot because even with the good gear i hadn't developed any real strategies and 2. I got bored because I never had to accomplish anything. So this season when I came back, again :whistling:, I still only play for maybe 5-6 hours in a week, but I do it 100% legit and have found that my skill is higher than it has ever been, I enjoy doing MF runs, and actually PLAYING through the game is the most enjoyable part of all. Yeah I'm not rich, but I've got 3 fully geared characters and I've managed to gear my sister's Fishy all while playing legit and not spending much time doing it.

Well for me one of the most fun things is the treasure hunting and mass clearing of areas.

I love to couple with a friend of mine for the frost + fire soso and make Baalruns, Cowruns, Traviruns, Ancient tunnel runs etc. etc. all by ourselves. Before he started playing I was doing chaos sanctuary and baalruns on my own with my mighty poison nova/revive nec ^^
