Howzit from Hawaii, A Belated Intro

As I posted a new trade thread today, I realized I hadn't posted a proper intro in the SPF, only a little blurb in the SPF Trade forum. So, before the squid pulls me down to the depths, I figure I better get it done.

I am located about 2 miles west of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii--a rather uncomfortably warm area of the state unfortunately, which I am just starting to really feel now that summer is getting into full swing. I am older than Pong, as I like to say, and I am starting to miss way too many pickup basketball games as I am really feeling the old bones now. Tall enough at 5' 11 to play center most times in those pickup games here on the island. And unfortunately getting plenty wide enough too. As far as Diablo, I was a rabid ladder runner a couple seasons ago with a fishymancer, which is my favorite build--it forgives my sloppy play quite a bit. I used to farm Uber Diablo for anni charms on ladder and got moderately rich off doing that, but eventually I burnt out on the ladder. I just started playing again a few months ago--after about 1 1/2 years or so away from the game. I started playing SP, avoiding the ladder, and, as I was looking up some Diablo info, found my way back to the forums. Took me a little bit to figure out what the cryptic RRM and RWM was all about . . .

Anyhow, I get most of my enjoyment out of mindless MF. Pretty lame I know, but I just like finding stuff. Anybody remember the old Rogue pixel character game, originally on Unix? I was pretty addicted to that as well. I recently built a CB/FO sorc to run Countess and just within the week built a Blizzorc and have been doing rather nonstop Pindle runs. Eventually, I do want to try out some other characters for fun, i.e. an Avenger, Furysin. I have dabbled with a Frost Zealot in the past. I have never done PvP--too timid and too sloppy a player--but I might give it a try when the other stuff starts getting me bored. I just don't feel like getting my lunch handed to me every 3 seconds quite yet.

Anyhow I guess that'll do eh?

@IRoK: Thanks :smiley:

@nebux: *ouch* Er, Fishymancer is my favorite. I also liked playing with a Frost Zealot. Stafezons = Fun too. I guess those would be my faves--I haven't played many different builds though; I will plan to rectify that down the line.

It makes me full funny to welcome you, as you have been around for a while and I saw quite a lot of your posts in the tourney updates. Anyway welcome to the SPF!

Got addicted to a Rogue-like game a while back now. Don't know if you've ever come across ADOM? Have broken the addiction now, helped by the fact that my keyboard is slightly dodgy. While I can remap the hotkeys for Diablo easily enough, I wouldn't be able to use all the features of that game. :grin:

Enjoy your stay here, take part and be nice to people!

Welcome fellow capitalist! I too enjoy MFing. A bit too much actually, since I still need to pat/mat a few chars that are gathering cobwebs...

@everyone. Thanks! :grin:

@SiTro: I remember a friend of mine vaguely speaking of ADOM, but that's about it. It'd probably be a bad idea for me to come across it . . .

@AJK: That's my exact situation. My strafer, frost zealot, barely started fishyzon all twiddling their thumbs. . . Heck, my ONLY Pat right now is the Fishymancer I started with. My CB/FO sorc and my Blizzsorc haven't bothered with Ancients yet. In the last 5-6 days or so I have leveled my Blizzsorc from 76-90 on 99% Pindle runs. I started running Meph and Pindle somewhere towards the end of level 89.

Come on, mat that blizzy. I know the cold immunes are Hell (sorry, too hot for good puns) but she's level 90. You can do it!
I leveled my meteorb from 90-93 on /P1 Pindle runs...

Welcome! Here are your cookies, if you could drop some macedemia nuts by the EMB for another batch, I'd be greatful. I think you'll fit right in with the grailers, it's ATMA the greatest?

Read the stickies, don't mind the shin kickers, be nice to EUs and have fun!

@water_moon: I actually have a macadamia nut tree in the backyard . . . And, yeah, I love ATMA. Game would be much less fun without it.

Welcome, wilypueo

Remind to whine about this complaint just a little when the windchill here in Wisconsin hits -40 this winter. lol:rolleyes:

I am a little on the aged side myself (my first computer was an old Commodore Vic20). I think you'll find that the group in this forum is pretty mature and helpful (especially compared to bnet).

@maewyn: My pal had Vic20 and I used to hang out at his place watching him tinker on it. Before that I helped (er, okay watched) him build a Trash80.
