Re: How many Pats/Mats/Guardians do you have?

Back in 1.09 I had about 15-20 mats/pats but I deleted all those a while back. In a brief foray into 1.10 I did a hammerdin and a fishymancer.

1.11 I have:
Meteorb sorc
Blizzard sorc
novaorb sorc

and soon a dentist. I have never played HC beyond normal and I have never played an assassin beyond normal. There are many builds I want to try though. I suspect that my next few projects will be:

Lightning fury zon
strafe zon
poison mancer
tesladin
windy druid

I am always changing my mind though and getting distracted by my ongoing MF projects towards a grail or a runeword etc.

Re: How many Pats/Mats/Guardians do you have?

I added 2 more Mats since I made this topic, a Fire Trapper/Whirlwinder Sin and a Frost Nova/Nova Sorc. #88 is on the way, a 200% FCR Nova Sorc. Btw, this total doesn't include the Median Stuff.

@ Jingizu:

She was levelled solely from /p8 /p3 Baal runs. I started her in early October (after seeing jjscuds 99 thread pop back up) and she is around 640 runs from level 98. Though I've probably done only a dozen runs in the past two weeks. Her merc is equipped with Infinity (2xSur, Ber from LK, made in June this year). Quite frankly, with Infinity I find her to be the most efficient Baal runner in the game. And most importantly the most fun. I have a really decked out Enigmadin (Enigma was quite the farming effort, made in June last year) and he is slower at killing Baal and of course a little random because of the nature of BH. The Light sorc does not have this problem, though it does take a bit getting used to and is obviously more fragile. Apart from the occasional LI boss in the throne, which my Merc takes care of usually on /p3 or LI Lister which I have to park, immunities aren't a concern. It's an extremely powerful build, albeit expensive as it can take quite some time to farm an Infinity.

@ sirpoopsalot:

Nice to see that someone besides me likes Nova and Frost Nova. You recommend a Nova/Firewall sorc for questing but don't you find that FW takes an "eternity" to kill (possible exception of an Infinity wielding merc but I was Vanilla at the time I made her and not a lot of SP'ers have Infinity), has a timer and is neither the easiest skill to aim nor an effective LI solution. It does get credit though because it takes some skill to use effectively. I've interested in knowing more about your thrower sorc. I'm assuming she'll use Gimmershred with maxed LM, FM + Infinity?

@ NagisaFurukawa:

Can you elaborate on your Meleemancer, please? Was it a standard Daggermancer or a Mojomancer?

With 40 points and decent gear, Firewall kicks butt. With less investment it's a little slower (like every other sorc skill with less than 40 points), but it's pretty much the best backup for a FrostNova sorc, in my opinion (I don't have Infinity, so I need dual elements or lots of patience if I want to kill everything). Part of the reason I feel that way is the mix of playstyles. (Frost) Nova requires an aggressive, spam-based attack, while Firewall requires a more strategic & defensive mindset. So, in order to be efficient and safe at all times, you constantly adapt your playstyle depending on the monsters you face at any given moment.

And I honestly don't think FW is harder to aim properly than Frozen Orb* - it's just that FO is 10x more forgiving if you aim it improperly. My aiming technique for FW is pretty simple: get a tanking merc and use teleport. It's fairly easy to use teleport for positioning the merc to tank the monster while it stands in your firewall; and with the merc and the firewall, that's a lot of damage for a monster to receive.

* for PvM. Monster AI is obviously a lot different than human intelligence, so obviously PvP benefits from a more forgiving attack like FO.

For the thrower, my initial plan was Gimmers + Enchant + LM, but now I'm considering trying Lacerators & Warshrikes with my Fortitude armor. :p I might keep the Lacerators on switch, then swap Gimmers/Warshrikes in my inventory (since they take up such little space) for different monster types - I haven't entirely thought it out yet. In either case, I'll be using my Faith bow on a rogue to help my attack speed.
