Hoping some experts can help me out - error copying d2xmusic.mpq

Hey all, been a LONG time reader, and a never-before poster here on the forums. So I finally got around to patching 1.12 and read about being able to go CD-less which I'm quite thrilled about. But I get an error when trying to copy over d2xmusic.mpq. I didn't have a problem with any other file. Here's the error message:

Error Copying File or Folder

Cannot copy D2XMUSIC: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).


Does anybody here have any ideas on what that means or how to get past it?

It's a Windows error, probably caused by a dirty/damaged CD. Try googling "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)".

First try clean the CD and if that does not work then try get the file from a friends CD etc.

Another possibility is redownloading D2 in its entirity from Blizzard (only worthwhile if you have high bandwidth) - I had to do this as my CD was really knackered, and despite numerous cleans would not reinstall.
