Frenzy weapon possibilities

Have a couple of possible weapons i could use - tell me what you think.

Would duel fleshripper fanged knives work? what master do they fall under? ( i assume sword?)

Would duel nord's tenderizers work very well?

both of those weapons you suggested should work fine in a frenzy build... i'd recommend using the fleshrippers though, the swing speed and all that crushing blow, deadly strike etc. going off should work very nicely if you use it in conjunction with highlords, goreriders, draculs etc.

i think lunatic has a frenzy barb with dual fleshripper. he'll be able to help you out in the experience-with-char category  .

Not sure that I like the idea of daggers. If no wep mastery can be applied to them the damage would be limited. I like the nords and i have used them in a frenzy biuld. I also have B stars that are nice. My best are 2 Schaefer's with a pair of dracs are a very good end game frenzy set up. " for the mace class weps"

I'm thinking of remaking him. he's a temp mule these days. I did have alot of fun with him , and people constantly asked what I was using. If this is good or bad is up to you. :D

Anyway , back to the topic.
Fleshrippers are quite viable to use as end weapons for a frenzy barb. The mods on fleshripper make up for the loss of no mastery.

-50% Target Defense (this makes up for the loss of %ar from mastery)
25% Chance of Crushing Blow (always nice)
33% Deadly Strike (makes up for the loss of %crit strike from mastery)
50% Chance of Open Wounds (same as the CB)
Prevent Monster Heal (this mod works like a charm)
Slows Target By 20% (nothing special about this really)

The good part about daggers is that dex also boosts your dmg. I made my dagger frenzy barb more or less a titan. Str until I could wear everything , around 100 in vita (with +vita coming from equipment and so) and the rest into dex. I still got an AR of around 10k. In conjunction with the -50% defense you have quite a good chance to hit in hell.

Dmgwise it's ok aswell. If you have some nice life / max dmg charms your life and dmg will be quite good actually. If you don't have such good charms I would suggest getting some +life sc's and boost dex all the way.

Another good part about fleshripper is it's speed. With a lvl 24 frenzy (+4 coming from arreat:D) you need 54% IAS in order to hit a 5 frame frenzy. This usually means highlord's + shael in fleshripper's + 15% IAS jewel in helmet or so.

The equipment I used was the following.

Highlord's
Arreat (15% IAS / something jewel)
dual fleshrippers (shael)
Chains of honor wire fleece (gogo sexy looks)
dracul's grasp.
dual leech ring.
Ravenfrost.
Tgods.
gore's.

There are plenty other good items aswell , that are prolly cheaper and easier to get , but I don't know what budget you have. If you're not so rich I would suggest something like the following.

- arreat (this is almost a musthave for every pvm barb)
- crescent moon , eye of etlich (very underrated amulet) , rare amulet with +skills and other decent mods.
- dual fleshrippers (go figure)
- Lionheart runeword armor (also a very underrated runeword) , duriel's shell.
- Laying of hands (you do need some IAS) , magnus skin , lavagouts (the lvl 10 enchant boosts your AR aswell).
- ravenfrost (same thing as arreat , a musthave for every pvm barb). The other ring depends on if you get some mana leech from another source or not. If not , then I would suggest using a plain manald heal for some mana leech. If you do get some ML some somewhere else , cathan's seal is a cheap leech ring aswell.
- Strings of ears, Thundergods vigor (this one shouldn't be expensive at all) , nosferatu's coil are all decent choices.
- waterwalks , sandstorm treks , gorerider's (not sure how [non]expensive these are) , natalya's boots (good resist boost).

1 last thing I want to add is something about skills. I would suggest going the warcry route. I tried both the defense and the warcry route , and I liked the last alot more. Everything within the warcry range stops attacking you , while with defense elemental attackers still can attack you.

Lunatic, excellent info!!! I am definately going dual fleshrippers. I am not the richest person out there, this is what i'll be wearing: seems to match decently with ur recommendations

Arreats - but i still havent gotten one :hanky: (on ladder in Useast this seems to be not so cheap for some reason, maybe just my bad luck )
Highlords
Gbane or Up'd duriel's shell
dual fleshrippers
verdungo's belt (for the life to make up for all the pts in dex?)
ravenfrost - or dwarf star?? (gbane has cannot be frozen)
Carrion wind
draculs
gore riders
2 +2 warcry javelins on switch (+3's are tougher to shop then i thought )

I can get by with about 100 str and I'll aim for ur number of 100 on vit, and the rest in dex. I'm very glad i know this build could work (and its not so common  ) I cant wait to get him goin! :surprise:

Also, what kind of dmg would i expect per weapon eventually (what was urs?)

Do pts in dex equal a +% to dmg? is it like 1% per point or what?

i always thought sword mastery helped daggers? go and test it with a low level barb and a gull dagger or something :)

IIRC I did something around 2,5 to 2,7 max dmg without a might merc. I did pump dex though. But I'm not sure if I used mf charms there or max dmg charms.

Anyway , if you can't get arreat I would suggest getting guillaume's. The 35% deadly strike + 15% crushing blow are quite helpfull aswell. And that one shouldn't be expensive at all IMHO. :D

Wasn't the weapon range (=1) a problem? I mean doesn't Frenzy try to hit a monster out of weapon range? (and automaticly miss)

Because I was thinking of it since a long time but was always afraid of its range...

thx,

I never had any problems with this. Since weapon range doesn't do so much for pvm anyway. Except for skills like whielwind or so. You'll do fine with range 1 weapons.

An interesting question now would be what the 20 points "freed up" by not having a relevant Mastery should be used to.

I used the following skill allocation on my frenzier.
20 frenzy
10 double swing
1 berserk
20 BO
20 warcry
10 taunt (very usefull against ranged attackers)
1 inc stam / speed , iron skin , nat resist , and all preqs.

With lvl 81 you're done here. After that pump taunt or double swing. I suggest taunt , because you actually use that skill from time to time , while double swing only adds ar to the skill itself. And both skills both at 8% ed as synergie.
