Fireclaw werebear

Is this skills and eq good?

Skills:
lycanthropy - 20
werebear - 1 (is that enough?)
fire claws - 20
fire claws synergy - 40
shock wave - 1
raven - 1
spirit wolf - 1
dire wolf - 1
grizzly - 1
oak sage - the rest

Equipment:
Jalal's 'shael'
Enigma AP
6s phase blade '6 shaels'
Stormshield 'eld' or 'Pdiamond'
Arach (for faster shockwave cast)
Trang gloves (for faster shockwave cast)
Metalgrid amu
2 x ravenfrost
Boots ??

Switch:
Cta flail
Spirit

Is 120 ias enough or do I need Cat's Eye or Highlords? And what is the fcr break points in bear form?

I'm sorry, but that build your referring to is for hardcore only, with emphasis on survivability and such. Not that its a bad thing but in general it doesn't make a great fireclaw bear. Sure, maybe put one point into shockwave......maybe. However, he says things that you'd NEVER do in ladder like putting a few points in shockwave to get it up to lvl 15?... any good fireclaw will easily have a lvl 20+ shockwave regardless just by putting a point into it. In all honesty though once you start tanking and getting really good u don't wanna be running around shockwaving everything and stuff. You'll prolly be tele'ing all over with nigma, then transforming and owning a group using auto-attack, then transforming back and teleporting again dropping fissures. not to be mean, but that build is like Fireclaw on training wheels, its a good idea but deffinitely not token for ladder

well m8 my fireclaw druid is my pride and joy :)
@lvl 84:
7098 life
~10k fireclaws
50% block( ya ya should have gotten max :P)
22k attack rating

i did almost the same skills as you but i went for more synergy-maxing rather then any of the summons.I didnt get shockwave either but i havent had a problem yet.

Jalal's 'shael'
Enigma AP

Boots ??

All this looks good allthough u only need 110% ias to reach max fireclaws speed so i would suggest using a pb with 4xShael, 2X15ias,resist jewels.Depending on wheather you have resist problems or not,you should use either an um or 5/5 fire facet in stormsheild. it adds over 1k damage and -resist never hurts :P Ima have to reccomend waterwalks as they give you 15 dex, which is good for max block and ar, and 65 life which is very good for boots.

FOR YOUR STASH:
-6xshael'd Giant Thresher(the range 5 weapon is good for catching casters or very fast amazons)
-Typical sorb gear(hotspurs,whisps,tgods,snowclash,ect.)
-Angelic set for 35k defense paladins ans barbs
-Chains of Honor(if u wanna tank trappers, fohers, javas, and other elemental damaging characters thet you can catch)

Good luck with ur bear m8 :)

Ummm... it's not Fireclaws on training wheels, it's fireclaws "untwinked". You do know what untwinked means, right? Because it's pretty hard to get +20 skills when you're untwinked.

Also, I always laugh when I see people with their +20 skills and their enigmas and their Griefs and 3/20/20s and 40/15s. Those things aren't items, they're crutches. It's funny that you call untwinked Fireclaws "Fireclaws on training wheels", since untwinked Fireclaws requires much more skill than Fireclaws with all of that gear you're wearing. If anything, I'd call YOUR Fireclaw setup "Fireclaws on training wheels"... because that's all those dupewords are. Training wheels.

But it's really easy to make/get:

jalals mane +4 skills
Peace armor +2 skills
magefists +1 skill
spirit monarch +2 skills
maras +2 skills
bul kathos 1-2 skills dpending on how many rings
10 plain shapeshifters

and that's already more than 20 + skills in gear that most people will practically give you for free.

and really, low dtorches and low annis are also often given away, especially on one particular trade forum. getting close to +30 skills for almost free for anyone smart or determined enough to ask. And if you don't take donations, you can still make/find most of that stuff with minimal time invested.

and especially since this is hardcore, you will have shockwave an no need for blocking.

It's easy to get a ton of +skills, but it's hard to get a ton of +skills while still maintaining Hell-viable resists... and no one ever adventures in PvM with 10 +Skill Grand Charms. In PvM, you need to keep some inventory space open so you can grab drops.

Besides, that gear might be easy to assemble cheaply, but it'd be pretty much impossible to assemble no-twink. The Spirit is pretty much the only thing you listed that a no-twink player can expect to find.

Do you consider no-twink as playing directly through the game without ever magic finding on that particular character?

I don't base a build around what they can't get, I base it around what they can and can strive to get.

That's the difference between us, and no its not that tough to achieve if you put your mind to it.

You said "gear that most people will practically give you for free," which doesn't sound much like untwinked to me.
Sure, the magefists aren't that rare, but good luck getting the rest in a somewhat low number of runs.

the Post didn't specify anything 'bout untwinked or hardcore or w/e. He asked how to make a good Fireclaw Bear build.... that's what I'm saying, so why'd someone give him that link?

But it's really easy to make/get:
maras +2 skills
bul kathos 1-2 skills depending on how many rings

Oh horsecrap. People don't hand out kaleidoscopes or BK rings.

Also, you can't say a build that uses skills to keep monsters from killing the character is a build on training wheels. That's like comparing superdave's naked passive-skills-only build is a character on training wheels because she never actually fights herself. That's like saying a berserk barbarian is on training wheels because it uses that stunning war cry to stop monsters in their tracks, or a mandugai is on training wheels because it uses grim ward.

Just no.

lol, ok I agree... ppl don't just give those away. But I don't see where your going with those comparisons, your taking it way out of context. All I'm saying is you shouldn't base a build on what you "can't get"... of course you won't have everything perfect right away, but least build it perfect the first time so 2 months down the road your not lvl 90 wishing you didn't fudge your whole skill tree up with unnecessary garbage. Karps right when he says its easy to achieve the skills you need to get without having to have the "best of the best" so why burn unnecessary points"? I find it wasteful if were talking just regular ladder here... hardcore is another story, in that sense I could see ya' doing something like that, but only then

No, I consider "no-twink" as using only items that you find yourself- which means even if someone WOULD give it away for free, you can't take it.

Ummm... because that link had a lot more than just gear recommendations? It had discussions on the difference between Hardcore and Softcore, discussions on playstyles, what skills to invest in and why, suggestions for party play and how to deal with FIs, methods for dealing with IM, and even discussed a workaround for the lack of leech. Please, read my first post in that thread and please tell me what advice I gave that doesn't apply to characters with the godliest gear on the planet. There's not a single sentence in that entire post that gives advice that doesn't apply to Fireclaw Bears of *ALL BUDGETS*. Perhaps that is why someone provided that link.

The link specified untwinked... the post here didn't. Personally I don't understand why your going off on us "terrible players with our crutches" who use our "duped runewords of hate" lol. Yes, I understand that some ppl might play untwinked just for the fun factor... for casual players. But for us who actually were willing to work hard and work our way all the way up from nothing to get all our runewords and items lay off our backs. Were not all just dupers and hackers taking the easy route like you seem to imply at times.

Whether the link specified "untwinked" or not is irrelevant, as it had lots of handy information for all Fireclaw bears of all makes and models.

As for the rest of it... I have a habit of getting threads off-topic, and I'm trying to reign in that impulse. I'd be more than happy to discuss any of this with you via PM, but let's return this thread to a discussion of Fireclaws.
