Fire Shrine

Fire Shrine

I am suddenly loving this shrine a whole lot more...

Ok, we all know the drill. Touch it, and loose half your current life. Also, other mobs in the area lose half their current life as well. Since I play HC, this is not a very safe method of mob disposal in my book, so I generally give these babies a wide berth.

But the fire shrine takes half of the lifeforce of ALL mobs... up and including act bosses. I just found this out when my tourney venommancer Skellophobic came up against the big D. I ran towards the shrine, waited until he came a chargin, and then I tagged it. I lost half my life. He lost half his life. But I can drink red pots! Gotta love that shrine :P

Re: Fire Shrine

Good thinking Merlin, I never realized that the fire shrine also hurt monsters.

A quick rejuv and it's 100% good.

Re: Fire Shrine

you learn something new everyday. First of all, I didn't know that you/monsters lose half of your/their life. Then again, I didn't know you can use it against act bosses.

Re: Fire Shrine

I bet you use petrol/gas to light barbeques, don't you?

Re: Fire Shrine

Necroids rarely come equipped with Telekinesis however. They do usually come with boatloads of minions who suffer just as badly from the fire shrine as you do. Besides, even if I had found a ring with TK allready, I wasn't about to swap my LR 29% ring out for it... That red hose of his takes enough life as it is.

EDIT : With the current price of gasoline??? Are you mad!!! I'll just use nitroglycerine, thank you very much!

Re: Fire Shrine

I've often used Fire shrines to great affect by activating them from afar via telekenesis.

whoa.. now this is one sweet tactic. i've always run into them when chased by mobs.. this should work better =)

"I lose half my life, but I get hamburgers!"

That is very interesting though. I always thought that you took a whole bunch of damage and it did next to nothing against monsters(nevermind act bosses!). Good find!

Re: Fire Shrine

I don't think telekenesis works on avoiding damage. I know that it doesn't with the exploding cow bodies.

Edit: Ah, yeah. Thanks. To me, they're kind of like Evil urns. I press them at the most inopportune times.

I don't think it does either but with TK you have more freedom as to when you activate the shrine. If the shrine is swarmed with monsters you probably don't want to be in the middle of them when you lose half your life.

Re: Fire Shrine

I remember nailing Diablo with a Fire Shrine, a very rare treat. Most fire shrines are only minimally helpful. Regardless, I click them all; I like to create Fire Shrine art.

What can we say, your are insane. We normal people never have the will to touch them. They normally placed in the worst place that does no good. I never experienced fire shrine near act boss. That will be helpful indeed if we can have one fire shrine near hell ancients.

Re: Fire Shrine

Heh, I've never seen shrines around the Ancients (you may have just been kidding though - I can't tell)

Do the fireballs actually do anythin, or are they just for show? Sounds like it's an enhanced Static Field type spell that hits everything.

Ancients place cannot have shrine. If it is possible, just think how helpful to have a good shrine around (eg. heal, damage, and fire shrine).

I believe the fire ball is just for show, no matter how far away you are from the shrine, it "hits" you anyway. I think it takes half life from everything within the same screen.
