es with %dr/res

Unfortunately, ES is applied before resistances and DR. It will not help the amount of mana drained (you will take the full brunt of it), but it will help towards the amount of life lost. If you have a 95% ES, unless you're taking a LOT of damage, it will be virtually unnoticeable as to whether the resistances and DR help or not.

Against monsters with mana burn, it would be handy to have.

ok thanks,
i was just planning on using guardian angel on my sorc because i really like it
...should i go full vitality insted of energy shield then?

Bearing this in mind: straight magic reduction and straight damage reduction (and straight absorb if you have a free item slot and don't need extra fcr and don't have good life/str items) helps out greatly

(or am I mistaken here? pvp pen applies first, then ES, then DR and then res right?)

i would. there is always ways to get around different dmg reductions. open wounds, different elements, etc. there is no way to get around having a lot of life.
