Hope you managed to get ahold of the series 1 G15 with the purty blue backlighting - orange is soooo 1970s /valleygirl. On the other hand, the newer version has only 6x3 G keys instead of 18x3 which makes the board more compact (18 is ridiculous).
A friend of mine used his G15 for TCP/IP marathon baal runs last summer and while we experimented with the macros a bit, the only one we found useful was a /players1 <-> /players8 switch (his typing skills are awful). We also had a simple script running on the LCD display, but it only showed his health/mana which was redundant and stupid (you're supposed to be looking at your game screen not your keyboard) so we switched it to monitor a teamspeak channel instead.
I'm sure there are some useful and maybe even creative macro possibilities out there for D2 but having played the game without them for something like 6 years, I don't see the point in bothering. YMMV.
I might as well also point out that making heavy use of complex macros could be tagged as botting by Blizzard's Warden and earn you a big fat bannz0r. I know next to nothing about how Warden goes about its business but my own experiences with Battle.net tell me that its a credible possibility. If you're going to record some macros, keep 'em simple.
