Critique my idea: The Girlfriend-asin (Cobra Strike + Dragon claw)

Since I dont play d2 that much, more in "bursts" of a week or two at a time, I like to make my own builds.

I had this idea, a Cobra Strike and Dragon Claw build. Since it "sucks the life out of you", I decided to name it the Girlfriend-asin to honor those of us who have to balance our inner nerd with time spent with the opposite sex.

Basic build-

20 cobra strike
20 dragon claw
20 claw mastery
20 shadow master
13 cloak of shadows
10 weapon block
1 burst of speed

My theory is that I pop off a cloak of shadows, run in and charge up cobra strike and finish with dragon claw. With the enemy "weakened" by the shadow and the life regain with cobra.... shouldnt I be ok ?

My basic idea would be I could stand on my own with the leeching from cobra strike (Ie: sucking the life out like my girlfriend :P)

does this sound like its worth a go ? Im not necessarily interested in "OMG WILL THIS SURVIVE ME IN HELL ?!?! AN CAN I DO TEH PVP AND PWNZORZ ?!11"

thanks from a very bored guy at home on xmas break ^_^

As a female D2 player, sheesh have a nicer attitude towards your girl. Or go find a girl who loves games. It makes life much easier on you.

As for that, you shouldn't need to bother with the CS. Get a set of suitable claws, socket with Amn, and go from there. As you progress further into the game, you'll find better stuff, trust me. I'd only put one point into CS and use it in SOE, IMHO and use those lovely skill points elsewhere.

its all in fun, no animostiy was meant toward anyone.
She actually got a kick out of it, she was a d2 addict for a few months herself.

so youre saying the leech from cobra strike at 20 wouldnt make much of a difference ? that was my main concern

it could work. (cobra does have that sick leech anyways.) it would work fine though atleast 4 acts of nm minimum. then its more about gear. good gear and you should be fine till act 2 hell (mostly concitering sewers here.) by this point its going to become increasingly harder to keep that poor assy alive even with all her leech as casters become lethal. i dont think this build would be able to solo hell (like most melee asn builds anyway) but it could get far with the proper items. (and TONS of res.)
you could also conciter another chargeup like blades of ice (mostly for the nice slowing effect) to rely on as well when the leech isnt vital at the moment. 1 to tiger strike of cource for bosses and the like. i would give it a shot. my first asn with moderate gear was in the 50s and fine using cobra (but also a completely retarted build outside of that O.o)
it really really depends on what you can give her. if the gear isnt there it will be extremely difficult later on, but if you play as little as you say....you will get plenty outta her ^^.
that build leaves you a few points, but we know you wont even hit 90 on that thing anyway. unless of cource you got it rushed, but theres no fun in that...

I doubt you'd have much trouble surviving, except in parts of Act2 populated by skeletons, but I'm not sure you'd be able to do enough damage to make it in Hell.

Firstly, you have no AoE attacks, so it'll be pretty slow going against crowds.

Secondly, you don't have a backup skill against PIs, so you'll probably have to run away the moment you find a PI or SS boss.

Thirdly, your damage isn't really going to be that spectacular, unless you're using something like dual Nat's Marks. Claw damage took a big hit in 1.10, and now it's very hard for a DC-based build to kill effectively in Hell.

In any case, if you want to stick with the build, a few suggestions:

1) Keep CS to 1-5 base points. You'll leech plently enough to survive with that amount, the extra points could be put to better use elsewhere.

2) Keep CoS to 1-5 base points. A higher level CoS is actually more of a hindrance than a help, in PvM, as you cannot re-cast CoS until the duration of the first one runs out, which could take a long time. The end result is waiting around after a mob has been killed for the duration of CoS to expire, before being able to tackle the next group.
