Critique my Blade Fury/Trapper Hybrid

OK, after doing a little research and tinkering around here’s what I’m thinking regarding a BF/Trapper hybrid. The equipment choices were tough, with BF wanting DS, CB, OW and CTC skills and Traps wanting plus skills and mana, so I tried to balance out the two.

Starting with typical Furysin equipment here are the changes that I’m thinking of making:
Code:
		[U]Furysin[/U] [U]BF/Trapper Hybird[/U]
Helm Guillaume's Face	Harley
Armor Duress CoH
Gloves Soul Drainer Same
Belt Verdungo’s Arachnid Mesh
Boots Gore Riders Same
Weapon Stormlash Same
Shield Tiamet’s Same
Amulet Highlord’s Same
Ring1 Raven Frost Same
Ring2 Carrion Wind SOJ
Changing the Helm was a tough decision, but I went with the +2 Skills, 10% DR, and lots of life and mana over the 35% CB and 15% DS. For the Armor I went with 2 more +skills, plus huge resists, life steal, DR plus some extra damage to demons and undead. The Belt and Ring I changed to get the additional +1 to skills and more mana.

This set up gives me an additional +6 to skills along with lots of mana for my Traps. The BF stats suffered some but I still ended up with almost 50% CB and DS, although OW is only 10%. Plus I still have 15% CTC static and 8% CTC weaken.

My skill point distribution (based on using 97 points) would be:

Shadow
Base (with skills +7 equip, +2 charms)
4 (13) Shadow Master (she’ll have all her unique equip except the amulet)
1 (10) all others

Traps
Base (with skills +7 equip, +3 charms)
20 (30) Shock Web
20 (30) Charged Bolt
20 (30) Lightning Sentry
20 (30) Death Sentry
1 (11) all others except Wake of Inferno and Blade Shield

I thought about switching 10 points from Shock Web into Venom, which would give me an additional 150 poison damage but would reduce my average LS damage by 393 so I decided not to.

In summary here are the relevant stats:
LS Damage: 8-5362
DS Damage: 3-1992 (5 shots)
CB: 48%
DS: 45%
OW: 10%
DR: 28% (with Fade)
Resists: Max (with Fade)
Attack Rating: Pathetic

I’ll have a Demon Limb on switch, hopefully with the Enchant and –defense from CoS and Soul Drainers I’ll be able to hit something with my BF.

Any comments or recommended improvements are appreciated.

  • I have both Trapper and Furysin.. but ATM is swamped in work and in 2 threads on builds.. if you could give me some time I*ll try my best to find time to write you a qualified suggestion..

Hope that will suffice for now

A straight up trapper is so yawn boring: plop a trap, mind bend, run away until everyone dies.

A furysin is a lot of fun, especially if you shout 'Go Speed Racer, Go Speed Racer, Go Speed Racer, Go!' as you do the blade fury.

Would socketing an Eth in the Stormlash help compensate for the my low attack rating when using Blade Fury?

You could always skip stormlash and use a Crescent Moon ethereal cryptic sword. That has Ignores Target Defense. The overall mods on Stormlash are better, but if you're hitting 25% more with CM, you may want to take it into consideration. They both have static field, Storm has Tornado on strike, CM has chain lightning (modified by the -35% lightning resist), and the open wounds can help compete with the 33% crushing blow you lose when ditching stormlash

The only issue I see is that the original Furysin was based on using Crushing Blow. By going the trap route with +skills, maybe BF can just be used for straight damage or open wounds. CM has open wounds.

I’m actually planning on using a Crescent Moon Ethereal Small Crescent from level 49 until I can use my Stormlash at level 82. So if the Stormlash doesn’t work out I could also switch back.

CM should be available at level 47, but that's a good route to go. I had a non-eth small crescent last ladder season that worked nicely... at least non-eth lets you use the summon spirit wolf charges for a kick :)

You’re right 47, for some reason I was thinking an Um was 49.
