Re: Throne of destruction.

Good luck!

Feel free to use this post as an intro post. ie where you tell us something about you and D2, what you've done before (ie battlenet) and what you hope to do now.

Personal info is optional :)

Re: Throne of destruction.

yes. good luck, I always say : if You walked there, then you should be fine, and molten boulder is pretty powerful early on, but will lose power later on in the game

you seem to have alot of str for your level, try to get alot of points in vitality, druids get 3 life per point. and if you have a oak spirit it adds up quick

and most builds never put any points in energy( not sure if you did or not) but you can of course do whatever you like

and that's my 2c

im an elemental druid with lvl 19 moulten boulder and 9 volcano.
and he's practically immune to fire. my merc dies practically instantly.
im finding this hard enough, im dreading baal.
i'm getting utterly poo'd on

Re: Throne of destruction.

you could always lure lister out of the room and then u'll be able to fight baal

Re: Confronting Baal - oh dearrrrr.

like i just said on the other topic, lure lister out of the room and be sure he doesnt follow you back
then run back to the trone and baal will go in his chamber and you can kill him without killing lister

Re: Confronting Baal - oh dearrrrr.

If you are playing closed realm, this is the wrong place to ask for help - this forum is focused on Single-Player (which does include MP via IP, but not BNet).

That being said, beating Lister and Crew is not easily done with a fire skills character. I've never played an elemental druid (but Lister & Crew are CAKE for a werebear, BTW) - but generally I think you would need a more physical attack. Do you have any Windy skills invested in? Perhaps a pelt with +3 Hurricane or something? How about some Dire Wolves? They might help take some heat off the Merc, and you can recast those. Heck, even some Ravens will help you separate the pack.

What gear is your Merc packing? One thing new players don't realize is that Merc selection and outfitting make a major impact on game play.

For the record, Baal will likely be easier that Lister & Co - I don't think he's as resistant to fire damage.

Re: Confronting Baal - oh dearrrrr.

I'm seeing a bit of foreshadowing for my current build...I'm trying to go for a zon built around slows target, chilling damage, open wounds, and knockback. Combine that with a high level decoy, strafe, and maybe a 1 pt freezing arrow, and I think I'll be good to go.

For style points, I'm also using an A1 merc.

Slightly more on topic, "parking" Lister outside the throne is a viable strategy, but I always felt a bit cheap doing it. I'd go gain a few levels in the Ancient Tunnels and such, with fire damage from your druid you should be able to do fairly well in there, and a few levels makes your merc much harder for Lister to hit. Might help if you don't want to cheese it a bit and park lister instead of killing him.

Even more on topic, I'd just like to say that molten boulder isn't a terribly awesome boss killer...it's more used for places like the maggot lair, etc. If you've got a merc that's durable enough that Lister can just pin him against a wall, then Lister will stay still and you can peg him with volcanoes. Because you have points in molten boulder, you'll have a strong physical component to your volcano and that may help a bit. For alter on though, I'd recommend getting yourself a nice fissure...against anything weak to fire, it's surprisingly awesome in my experience. No fire druid is complete without it.

Re: Confronting Baal - oh dearrrrr.

Thanks guys.
Well i've got an Act 2 cold arrow merc.
She's got a scalemail with fire resists of 15 and 118 defence.
And a set item, beserker helm 32 defence.

I need about 400k xp to level up and then I'll have a skill point i can put on hurricane (i relised i needed all the air moves to use Armageddon so ive got to buy them now)

I think i'll just do that.

Thanks for the advice though guys. :)

Re: Confronting Baal - oh dearrrrr.

Get an Act 2 merc. Equip him with life leech gear and a decent weapon using the savage polearm recipe (kris + belt + any staff + any type of diamond). Get him to keep Lister in one place and then toss a volcano under him. Repeat until dead while feeding the merc potions as needed.

It sounds like you have an Act 1 merc, actually. By far the most popular merc is an Act 2 merc as they are decent tanks, use polearms or spears, which have some pretty decent damage, and most importantly have an aura. Normal and Hell Act 2 merc have prayer (combat), Blessed Aim (Offensive), or Defiance (Defensive) - I'd probably go with Prayer for this task.

If you have an Amn rune handy, I'd make Strength in a 2os Polearm or Spear to give him life leech and Crushing Blow. The unique Poleaxe is also very nice.

There are much better armor options for a Merc than what you have on your Rogue, but if you want to keep what you have on her, take it off before you hire a new merc. If you have an Iceblink, Rockfleece, or other handy unique armor handy your character isnt' wearing, put it on the merc. What unique/set armor do you have available?

Re: Confronting Baal - oh dearrrrr.

Alright.
I sold my rouge.
Got an act 2 offensive merc.

This is how i've got him kitted out.
Level 32.
465 health.
579 Defence.
All resistances 64
I've got him with a rare pike which is 18-82.
His damage is 70-120.
Gothic Plate armour with 204 defence.

I need to kit myself out.
I'm a druid and I only have 198 health.
I've got 104 strength though so i pack a punch tbh.

Can you guys recommend me any good weapons to buy, i want fast and powerful.
Ive got an axe atm, 48-74 fast attack speed.
which sort've does the job.

I can't do this though still :P

Re: Confronting Baal - oh dearrrrr.

What do you need so much strength for???

Your merc gear is all wrong. That Gothic plate doesn't help you at all. If you have no useful Unique armors like Twitchthroe, Rockfleece etc., go back to Act II, shop for a two socket armor and make a Stealth runeword in it (Tal+Eth). Not the most useful armor for a melee merc, but at least he'll have some Faster Hit Recovery. Or buy a three socket armor and put three perfect rubies into it for extra life. Also, make a Lore helm for him (Ort+Sol).

For weapon, try to gamble a rare Partizan or War Pike with extra damage. Pay attention to the mods; just because it's rare, doesnt mean it has extra damage.

And find yourself a two socket staff to make a Leaf runeword (Tir+Ral). You'll love the +3 Fire skills.

My Runeword Attire?

Alright guys.
Can someone help me with my attire please.

I'm an elemental druid (fire) level 34 on normal.
I have no idea about runewords and all that stuff.
I've always just bourght the armour with the highest defence.
Could somebody tell me what good runewords would suit me for my armour and weapons and stuff please.
I'm finding it really hard fighting Lister - The baal minions pack.

I need a full new kit out I think.
I need something affordable but decent enough.
My helm is okey.
I just need a weapon, shield, armour, boots, gloves, belt.
I guess.

thanks you lot :)

Re: My Runeword Attire?

If you are using RWM, here are my suggestions:

For all the runes you'll need, I suggest running NM countess, once you can get there.

Weapon: Spirit in a crystal or broad sword. You can either wait for one to drop naturally in Nightmare or you can use Larzuk to socket one found from Act 4 through Act 5 (except the World Stone Keep), iirc. I usually go with Larzuk because I'm impatient; if not, I'll probably shop a wand with Faster Cast Rate and +mana to tide me over.

Shield: Rhyme in a bone shield. 2os Bone Shields can be purchased from Drognan in Act 2 normal.

Armour: Stealth. 2os armour can either be bought in A1 or A2 (I recommend low strength armour, so you can use it on casters at low levels later).

Boots: Gamble/buy. You'll be wanting to look for Magic Find, Resists, and Faster Hit Recovery mainly.

Gloves: Gamble/buy. Looking for MF here mainly.

Belt: Gamble/buy. Looking for Faster Hit Recovery and potion slots here.

I don't know any of them :/
