Cloak of Shadows Question

When i cast "Cloak of Shadows" i can´t recast it until it wears off. Will all enemies that i fight during this period have lower def or only the ones that where in a 20 yard radius from me when i cast it?

If the ones "smoking" (in range) are the only ones affected then a high lvl "Cloak of Shadows" with a long duration would force me to wait if new mobs appear or? (if that is the case then i yet again find myself annoyed att blizzard :grrr: )

It's only the ones in range when you cast it.

The skill is almost ridiculously powerful as it is.

Heh - delete the "almost" part and ya about got it right Bug

On a more serious note, the not being able to recast it until it's gone does point up an area where some folks go wrong. You really don't want this skill above 10ish or so with skill adds considered if you can help it. (In my experience.) Otherwise if you're forced to trigger it for just a few mobs, or things with relatively few hps, you'll have to stand around waiting for it to wear off before you can safely advance. Kinda irritating. Not only would you be advancing without the safety net of being able to cloak, but you can't see a damn thing either. Bad combo!

Well for pvp it can be quite nice to have a long duration with CoS. For pvm it sucks. The only other thing you can do to "recast" CoS before the timer ends is casting a shadow warrior and put CoS on your left skill. With alittle luck she'll cast it for you. That might loosen the gap between your own CoS alittle.

I agree in general. However, if you are using an attack with little or no bonus attack rating (of course most Assassin attack skills have uber gobs of bonus AR) then it becomes very handy to pump Cloak of Shadows.

Example: if you were using a bow or throwing weapon. (Or even just a plain old normal attack to trigger charges or something).

Lower monster def will also benefit your Merc (except Act 3 mercs).

Oh, and its also relative to how long it takes you to mow down the mob - if you can slaughter them quickly in hell then go for the shorter duration by all means. But if it takes you 30 seconds to deal with a decent size mob, then anything up to say 40 seconds should be fine..

For me the more annoying thing is that minion movement (merc and shadow - even converted mindblastees) tends to draw in extra mobs, from outside the original radius. In which case it would be nice to be able to recast the Cloak, and the shorter timer is more useful, because the main desired effect is the Dim Vision part of the Cloak.
