Cheating

It is sooo easy to cheat in single player. Im kinda interested to hear how do yall overcome the little guy inside your head that says download this program and hack your character up so you can kill insanely fast? lol just wondering.

been playing this game since it was released, those voices don't exist. trust me, you do that and the fun is sucked out of it. Things die quickly, there is no thrill in finding items, and although its fun at first it fades and quickly.

common sense, experience, and a desire to enjoy the game are all effective ways to not feel an urge to cheat

if your builds aren't doing well read some guides look at the skills, figure out how to make a new character that does work. You don't need high-end items to beat this game and you don't need high-end items to start finding more items

I think it's stupid to do. The only one you're cheating is yourself. How fun is it to cheat up a character so it can't be beaten? Where's the fun in that? It's much nicer to know that you've earned your exp and items and so on...but then again, that's just me.

Because there is just so much more satisfaction knowing you found your l33t gear yourself or that your build pwnz hell ancients without having to cheat. But it would be nice to laugh at those Fire Enchanted ancients and not have to flinch when you come rushing towards you, ah sweet revenge  .

I've cheated through games like Descent (the original) and stuff like that, and God mode just made it so that I enjoyed the game less. I don't really hear the voices anymore, to be honest. :)

its so hard for me to not do it. Everytime i start a character I think ill give it some good items so i can get through hell faster, then i do and its boring. I can't stop doing it though!!! GRRR I HATE HACKS!!

Well, here's one way you can stop the urge:

Hack a character to be level 99, full stats, full skills, with uber-godly gear (max resists, absorb, PDR, FRW, FHR, FCR, Open Wounds, Crushing Blow, Enhanced Defence/Damage, etc etc etc).

Now play the game through starting in Normal.

...boring, isn't it?

I have some cheated chars that I mess around with everynow and then. I just keep them seperate from my legit chars. It sucks when something good drops for them though.

Well you could just twink, it has the same effect and it's not cheating. However it won't help make the game any harder, but you could always restrict the amount of items you mule on for each act.

Im thinking about making a amazon and just giving her a buriza and thats it and finding and killing everything else legit. Then when i find my own buriza i will just drop that one on the ground and use the one i found. That would solve the cheating, but then everyone in here wouldn't like that. ..im playing 1.09

Have you ever worked on something really hard, got to the end, feel accomplished for a very short time, and then look back and think, "Gee, it was more fun by trying to get there than actually getting there"?

I don't know about you but I have, and if cheating gets you to that end that fast, then there is really no fun anymore since the fun is in the "getting there."

You're right about people not going to like that, any items you find while using hacked items will also be tainted in the eyes of most members.

I don't really have that little guy inside my head. If you remove the challenge the game gets boring. I don't want to start my characters at level 80 in act 1 hell. That's boring. Watching them grow is fun. Also, I don't want to have everything die in one swing while it has no chance of hurting me. That's boring, too. In the end, cheating would only hurt me.

It's different with things like the FE bug or stuff like that. Getting rid of that is one of my goals in life. :D

One other thing I've been thinking about is, what's the difference between twinking and cheating? If I use my necro to run for a windforce and then give that to my zon, what's the difference between that and if I had used the WF from the item pack? For the zon, there is no difference. She got a windforce she didn't find. The only difference is how long it took me to get that item. Luckily, I already have most of the items in the game so I don't need to really cheat, but I guess I won't look at my twinked characters the same anymore.

okay okay.... I am going to play with my amazon that is level 15 no hacked duped items at all! Im going to get her to NM Mephy and just Mf until i can get a buriza and some other decent items then ill move on to hell. remember im playin.09

You almost want to cheat in the orginal Descent just to hear that lady call you what you truly are.

However in Diablo there is is no satification cheating, especially duping runes so you can have zods and high level runes to use. They make the game too easy and boring. Also, if I were to beat Diablo with hacked items then I would just feel like I wasted my time. I have better things to do than waste my time.

the differance nightfish is that your necro and your zon aren't seperate PEOPLE, they are differant characters you yourself use. remember, you own the items not the characters.

The day my sorc starts registering for the presidention elections is the day she starts trading the items she finds with other characters =-P
