Charsi's Imbue Quest...

after hearing the other day that imbuing ethereal items from Charsi allows them to keep there ethereal status, this got me thinking... y'all probably noticed the smoke coming from my ears. :scratch:

i could imbue a bunch of ethereal elite items and hope/pray for regenerate durability on them. or i could rig the system in my own favor. if i get a whole bunch of ethereal Dimensional Blades and imbue them, then upgrade them, they become indestructible! and i don't even have to steal Durf's Zod. :creep:

my questions are:
1) can anyone verify that this actually works before i trade for a bunch of ethereal dimensional blades.

2) can i get good mods on them using the imbue quest? we're talking things like Cruel, Swiftness, Grandmasters, that sort of stuff. oh yeah, and is it the same as regular rares in that i could get myself over 300% ED?

3) what lvls matter with imbuing? does clvl matter? do i need a certain ilvl? or is it qlvl that makes the biggest difference (i think its this one, but i'd like some verification). i think mlvls exist as well, and they could be important too... :flip:

4) anyone have any ethereal dimensional blades sitting around that they'd like to donate?

1) I can´t verify it first-hand, but a discussion on the the Strategy forum confirmed that it should work.

2) Anything a rare can get normally, you can get (up to the affix level in question)

3) Only character level matters for what item level the imbued item will get (=CLVL+4). As for exactly what affix a rare can spawn with, you will have to use a formula (that I don´t have available). It depends on both the item level and the quality level (i.e. the base item type).

4) Sorry, I don´t keep any items.



I think I´ll try some ethereal elite mercenary weapon types, myself...

if this is right, then i did some affix checking, and it seems like you need a clvl of 65 to get an ilvl of 69 which is the point where cruel, grandmasters, quickness, and pretty much any of the good damage mods become available. at that level, getting the Cruel prefix has about a 1/50 chance of occuring. i have ~8 chars over clvl 65, X3 imbue awards per char means i have about a 50% total chance of getting a Cruel ethereal Phase Blade. that could be pretty nice.

dimensional blade = qlvl 37
 
Yes, it definitely DOES work. The result is a sexy phase blade with no dur, thus indestructable and can be socketed with whatever.
