Can i have more then one soulstone?

I just hit act 3 NM and i still have mephs soulstone from normal in my invatory do i have to complete the soulstone quest in normal first to make sure i can still do both quest or will he drop another?

Never moved a Soulstone across difficulties, but it shouldn't matter. If you have yet to complete the quest and have killed Meph but are lacking a Soulstone talk to Cain and he'll give you a replacement.

Backing up a step, I'm curious as to what motivated you to not smash the soulstone in normal.

An MP character of mine ended up retaining her Soulstone after completing the HF quest in Normal. She still has it now. I don't think I've ever seen that happen before.

A SP character of mine recently retained the Horadric Scroll in Hell despite completing all the quests. I've not seen that before either.
