BS/RS/SM bone wand

Is it possible to get these skills on a grey wand? Just want to know if I've wasted my time looking or not. Thanks.
 
If BS means Bone Spear then yes, if it means Bone Spirit then no. Staffmods (those individual +skills) on one item can only spawn over a range of at most 4 "tiers" - so an item that has a first tier skill like RS or SM can only get as high as fourth tier skills (the level 18 ones).

Hoping for 3 specific skills is a pretty long shot though, and in fact hoping for skills at both extremes of a four tier range is the longest shot you can possibly hope for.

Still, if you're keen, your only chance is with wands that are between ilvl 19 and 24.
1/10 of those will have 3 skills, 1/10 skills will be tier 1, 1/5 will be tier 4, and if the right tier is chosen, 1/5 will be the skill you want.

All up ~ 1/80,000 wands will have the three skills you want.

After that, you have a 1/10 chance at getting +3 to a particular skill, so ~1/80,000,000 wands will be +3 to all three of them :)
 
Thanks. Figured it wasn't going to be easy after spending 2 hours in act 2 running in and out of town. I'd be happy right now just finding one with RS and BS on the same bone wand. hehe
 
Interesting. I was under the assumption that a +Teeth/+Bone Wall/+Bone Spirit would be the ultimate wand for White with it already bonusing Bone Spear and Bone Armor. This meant, along with +4 mastery to whatever skeletons/mages/revives you summoned, that you'd have nearly +5 to all the non-Marrowwalk synergies and it would be better than Boneshade, but you're saying the L1 and L30 spells can't be on the same wand.

Well, what combinations would be ideal for White, then? If the limits are 1-18, 6-24, 12-30 then it's pretty simple.

12-30 without Marrowwalk synergy interference means only Raise Skeletal Mage, Revive, Bone Wall, Bone Spear and Bone Spirit. For a non-summoning wand you'd need all three bone skills and this is difficult to get since you can't buy it from a vendor, AFAIK. You must find out the limit of this wand (I dare say ILvl/QLvl/etc since even I'm confused now) so as to face only the monsters just capable of dropping it. Sort of like hunting for charms just high enough to reroll.

6-24 doesn't allow Skeleton Mastery and Raise Skeleton, nor Teeth and Bone Armor; on the high end it doesn't allow Revive or Bone Spirit and so, with Bone Prison coming from the charge synergy on Marrowwalk (and anyone trading for it doesn't want the bonus on the wand), this leaves only more Bone Spear, Bone Wall and Raise Skeletal Mage. This is quite a specific wand and almost as highly desired as the wand mentioned above.

1-18 you have seven possible choices creating 63 combinations of any allowed number of those skills (this not counting the actual level of the bonuses). These are all possible from Drognan, I believe, and maybe you can get lucky enough to hit a 2OS for the runeword (doubt it being original versus exceptional or elite matters for its purpose). On the other hand, if this winds up being a SM/RS/RSM wand I don't believe White would be a good choice; starting a summonmancer might be in your future as it's usually three of the four poison and bone skills people want, and thus limits the combinations of what a useful wand would be.

If I'm to understand what you're saying, do I have this about right, Thrugg?

It sounds like maybe you're forgetting that +skill items don't affect synergies. A +3 bone spear white will add as much spear damage as a +3 spear, +3 spirit +3 wall wand
 
Ax, that is right on the possible ranges. Note that 4 tiers to choose from is a maximum but not guaranteed. The actual ilvl (ilvl is the only thing that matters here, not qlvl) breakdown is as follows:

ilvl ... tier range
1-11 1,6
12-18 1,6,12
19-24 1,6,12,18
25-36 6,12,18,24
37+ 12,18,24,30

Shoppable non-magic wands are only available up to ilvl 24, which means shopping with a char level 19 or less, or with any char at normal Drognan (because his ilvl cap helps you here).

To be honest the rarity of a suitable wand compared to other more commonly available options that are nearly as good makes it barely worth a dedicated search. If someone finds one, great, and it'd be valuable, but you'd go nuts searching for it specifically.
 
Merick: Aware of +skills not affecting synergies, it's a matter of usage evenly spread. IOW, with +3/3/3 you'd almost have +5 to Poison and Bone, that's the point. The synergies are the hardpoints and charges themselves.

Thrugg: So any character at Drognan for the first four tiers (this is fine since a CLvl99 could have almost 4M gold), a CLvl19 at Ormus (even if he can sell one tier higher I doubt a wand with these skills would be below 350K, so how would one buy it without another person in the game?) and only a monster can drop the highest tier combo.

Well, we know the odds, the procedures and the task ahead... I'll use my Boneshade. =]
 
Well I'm actually a hybrid. Wanted the RS/SM for summons and the BS for the bone skills. After 2 hours of looking last night, I did get 2 decent wands. First is +3RS, +2SM, +1GM and the second is +3RS and +2 teeth.
