Best merc for a hammerdin (on a budget)

Hello all,

I was reading many differing things about the best merc for a hammerdin. I know the new one is throwing an ice bow on a act1 merc so they dont die is chaos but i am not that rich! It's pretty much down to the act 2 mercs, but ive heard defiance, holy freeze, and prayer. Which is the best? Thanks in advance!

Imho the best merc for chaos is an act 3 iron wolf (cold).

Make him a Lawbringer Sword (Amn Lem Ko), really cheap and the Sanctuary aura has a knockback effect on all undead monsters and 2/3 of chaos are undead, not to mention it makes De Seis and his minions a whole lot easier.
All that he additionally needs is resists and maybe a bit of dam red.
Cheap combo would be something like Vipermage armor, Kira's or Rockstopper as helmet and Rhyme RW/Moser's as shield or simply a Storm (you may need to str bug it depending on his level).

He wont die from IM and his aura makes chaosing a lot safer (De Seis especially like I said). Just remember to take away his weapon when you kill Diablo, because otherwise Diablo will go mad and try killing your merc at all costs (he seems to be allergic to the Sanctuary aura hehe).
