Best CTA weapon for my casters ?

Thanks to hellforge, i now have all the runes necessary to make a CTA.
Before i make any silly mistake, i'd like to get some advices ...

What would be in your opinion the best CTA weapon for a Hammerdin and/or a Light sorc ?

Str/Dex requirements not too high of course.

flail and crystal swords are common. For a caster and most other chars, it doesn't really matter what it is in as long as its req's are high.

It does have:
+40% Increased Attack Speed
+250-290% Enhanced Damage (varies)
7% Life Stolen Per Hit
Prevent Monster Heal
30% Magic Find

But I have never seen a melee char char take advantage of it, so I i guess it is best to stick to a flail or crystal sword for resale value.

I guess i'll try to find a normal flail in a cowrun and socket it at Larzuc ... if i'm not mistaken i should get 5 socket :thumbsup:
That sounds easier than getting a hoto flail
 
I socketed a superior flail (12% dura, +2 ar) bought in act2 normal at merchant
I got 3 socket :lol: (socketing was done by my lvl 90 paladin in nm mode)

You won't get a 5 socket flail from Larzuk, socketing even a normal flail (white) will only net you 4 sockets, which could make you a HoTO if you were so inclined.

You will have to be on the lookout for simply a 5 socket flail as that will be the only way to get one.
 
the sockets gained depends on where the item is found.
the char lvl doesnt matter.
a hell armor that gets socketed by a lvl 1 char in normal will get 4 sockets.

Crystal Sword: 43 Str 0 Dex
Flail: 41 str 35 dex

Some chars, like a nec I think, don't want to get and dex, so a crystal sword is actually a better choice, but both are still good.

Now for sockets, as was mentioned, the sockets gotten depends on where the item was found. If you find a flail in a2 norm, its max possible sockets is likely around 3. And if you find them in hell, the sword will get 6 and the flail will get 5, but you want for. So you either have to find a 4 socket one, or put it in your cube and hope.

1 Ral Rune + 1 Amn Rune + 1 Perfect Amethyst + Normal Weapon = Socketed Weapon of same type
The number of sockets created will vary. The item must be normal and unsocketed. Low-quality items and superior items do not work. The item gets 1-6 sockets, randomly. However, the number of sockets is then restricted by the maximum number of sockets that base item with that ilvl can have. For example, if you have an item that can only have 2 sockets, there's a 5/6 chance of getting 2 sockets and a 1/6 chance of getting 1 socket.

So if you can't find a 4 socket one, the next best choice to to try and cube. You could always trade for one too.
 
crystal sword at the right level will give 6 soc from socketing quest. Doing cube - you have *possibilities* of getting 5 soc.
where double axe will *always* get 5 soc. Double axe has the same requirements as crystal sword.
Double axe is as common as crystal sword.
I always do my CTA(s) in double axe.
