Automods/imbue and superior shields

Can anyone tell me if automods eg. plus Druid skills on a pelt are re-rolled when an item is imbued? I'm wandering if any old pelt will do or wether I need to find one with good auto mods and then imbue.

Also what mods come on a superior shield non-magic shield - I'm wondering when looking for a shield to socket with a runeword how hard I should serch for a superior item (I assume the superior quality remains after the runeword is made?)?

Thanks for any help.

Day.

Automods are definitely rerolled during an imbue--in fact, I often use my imbue on crappy white class-specifics just in the hope of getting some decent +skills on them!

As for the shield question, a superior shield can have increased durability or increased defence, although you're not likely to find one with much more than 10% ED. Superior weapons can have increased durability, damage, and/or chance to hit.

aren't they called "staff mods" BTW?
staff mods are +to indivdual skills, while automods are mods like the +res all on paladin shields. Both are rerolled when imbueing.

Superior shields:
5 - 15% ed
5 - 15% enhanced durability

Don't make (unless Indestructible) runewords in superior items, the repair costs are insane.

Or, if you play in the Point of no Repair tourney! Just bought a 2-socketed 33 Def Bone Shield with 46 durability from Drognan (almost perfect, +13% ED, +15% durability)

or if its an eth superior for a merc
