anti-PK bowazon..

i'm sick of some PKing punk ruining baal runs and stuff (no offense to all of u who like to PK out there)..its v sad and sickening when i see my friends all fall to some low level pker in the middle of a baal run..

i've decided to make a character for countering PKs (well at least something more anti-pk than my hammerdin)..but i've no idea how to go about doing it..any body has any suggestions on wat skill sets shd i have for this character? no need for crowd control or pvm..just pvp..i've looked for a guide in the zon forums but i cant seem to find one..mybe i'm not searching correctly..anyone can guide me or show me the correct thread? thanks ^^

i plan to hit the 105 breakpt (correct me if i'm wrong) which shd be attainable with cat's eye ammy, shael-shael upped WWS and oher equip..

No.



You want to make a good anti-pk, make something to catch them off guard. I suggest a fire sorc.

Why? because you don't get hit (that's what your party memebers are for) and you can do alot of damage quickly.

Level 34 imo.

+2 fire skills circlet
Suicide branch
+2 fire ammy
2 sojs
Visceraunt
Sovm.

A lower res wand on switch

Merc :

Holy Freezer
Guilmes face
Kelpie snare
Max armour



This means they wont be moving, wont be hitting you, and eating 200 pvp dmg fire balls.
 
thanks shade for the input..but its not so much a surprise PKK than just a character i can use to take out PKers..or at least as a deterrence to PKers..so it need not be just level 50..

i've sorcs aplenty and i'm just looking to make something different..so i went back to my first ever d2 character aka a bowazon..

right now the only thing i've settled on is max guided arrow.was thinking of freezing arrow as well but most prob they would have a raven thus rendering FA totally impotent in the freezing aspect..any suggestions anyone?

but i do agree on the HF merc though for the slowing :lol: though i was leaning twds a might one for the added damage :scratch:
 
fire sorc are not bad for dueling, but will never get 1-hit kills at that low level (not to mention 5 or even 10 hit kills) if the enemy have half-decent fire resistance. My l. 25 fire sorc has ~ 100 pvp fire dmg, and couldnt kill a level 13 chicken using pk charger, he just kept dropping after 1 hit.

GA zon might work, but make sure you have max jewels in armor/helm. Lots more max dmg is way more important than 1 extra fram of attack imo. wws has a little weak max dmg, and deadly strike wont be as super important if you have pumped critical (which you should do).. riphook is a popular bow for this purpose, and i am sure there are many better bows at level 50. (BTW what is the req level for upgraded riphook? anyone know formulas to calculate this? :idea: )
 
oicccc...i've got most of the unique bows cept for WF and eaglehorn in HCL..wat would be the other alternatives? would goldstrike arch be good? the slow target by 30% on riphook is pretty nice..plus the vampirefang belt i have it would be up to 40%..

i dun understand the ED mod on jewels so pls enlighten me..does it add to the damage of the weapon or the overall damage of the attack? :scratch:

and for WWs..if i up it to a *i think* diamond bow would the damage be feasible? i can shael-ED jewel it.. :lol:

ooh and how high shd i pump crit strike? up to 50% issit enuff?and how high shd i get evade/avoid/dodge to? sorry for all e qns but its been a LONG time since i made a bowazon :innocent:
 
if you put an ED jewel in a weapon it adds to with weapon ED, changing the dmg of the weapon

if you put it in the armor or helm, it adds to the skill ED, like how much ED You get from your guidded arrows. I really dont know whether +15 max dmg jewels or +30% ED jewels would be better for this bowazon, and frankly i am too lazy to do the calculations.
 
...and that's why you'd want my calculator for determening what jewel constallation will render the most powerful punch! It was made for 1.09, but still works for a Bowazon!

(It's not a "bad" file, I guarantee you. But feel free to scan it with whatever "anti" software. I think a couple of people here uses it btw!)
 
Is this something kill TPPKers?

Those are the ones that ruin all the baal runs yes? If so what are you gonna possibly do? If not, why you agonizing over this choice? any dueling build ought to work fine against a pker especially if you are supported by the rest of the party vs one lone ranger.
 
i would like to make a bowazon..and at least a decent duelling one cos i cant find the correct link in the zon forums..would be pretty depressing if i try to chase away a PKer in a game and see deeds 2 secs later.. :lol:
 
Who are you pkking? I assume you mean in normal baal runs where people (chargers mostly probably) hostile and chase down the party, because obviously you cant do a damn thing to the tppkers. If thats what you want, your build sounds ok, but dont go ANY higher than 50 (50 is already a little bit high for a normal baal run)

Sounds like it will be effective at getting rid of them, though maybe not killing them all (my up coming level 27 pk/dueler will have max blocking, 800+ life, in other words, I dont plan on dying to a few guided arrows ;) ) That said, slow on me +LOTS of GA's in the air and I wont be around that long in the game, I'll be getting out :) Sounds pretty effective.

yupz matt..i'm not actively trying to kill ppl just trying to chase them off or something..making them leave the game and leave the baal run in peace is god enuff for me :lol:

Stick with the slow if thats your purpose. a Riphooker sounds like its exactly what you want out of this zon.

I should take my 1.09 zon out for a spin one of these days. Meanest Little dueling zon Ive seen :D lvl 37 (no noob cannons here) and by all things Holy, if things work out right, and they very often did ;) , I used to be able to do over 5k PvP dmg in a whole 4 arrows firing at 9 frames IIRC. I just wonder how she would do now with no piercing on GA and the bigger pvp penalty.
 
Thats not to say I wouldent duel such an amazon, just that a lot of slow will probably prevent me from getting any ears in the game, people could escape. Any idea how soon this amazon will be up and running? My 27 should be up over the weekend, I would give it a shot dueling her, would be very fun dueling with someone from the forums, a good break from the lamers in public dueling games.

Riphook + shael = 50 ias.

You need 75 ias to hit an important breakpoint (8 fps for that bow type).

So wear goldwrap for 10 and you need 15 more ias.

This can come from 20% gloves, or a jewel with 15% in helm/armor of your choice.

You're better off, imo with 15% jewel in helm or armor because THEN you can wear cleglaws for 25% slow and knockback.

So now, you'll be firing like a machinegun, with 55% slow and mediocre damage and knockback.

That's a good deterrent, imo, although I don't know if 'slow' works on casters (i.e. a sorc pk'er might still pack quite a punch on you).
 
I wonder if tppkers want the ears. For me no ear = no kill. If they collect ears, they have to go down, so can be pked on wp.
 
I would imagine tppkers are in it for the sake of being mean and feeling godly (lets skip the whole bit about pkers are mean, theres an obvious difference between a legit pker and a tppker) If they wanted ears, they would pk legitly, whats the point of pking and getting an ear if you didnt actually earn it? Ears have no value, they are trophies, mostly for yourself, so I imagine most ear collecters are not trigger users.
 
from the few tppkers i know, id surmise to them its about the feeling of power, they like to feel that they control the lives of the characters around them. most aren't into it for the ears as far as i know, but in most cases they might get the ear b/c as soon as trig goes off, almost everyone will chicken.

so to answer your question, i wudn't plan to be able to pk them on their way down to get ear, most likely they won't come down for ear unless they're stupid, they build glass cannon characters, and if you don't flux they'll assume ur a true pvp, and they won't face you in a fair fight.

i think i might have overdid this zon slightly..she's currently level 65.. :scratch:

the thing bout her is..i'm not going to use her for duelling or even as a surprise element in case i get hostiled..its more of a low-level-PKer-comes-into-a-game-hostiles-everyone-i-go-get-my-zon-and-try-to-scare-him-off-or-take-him-out kinda thing...hopefully it can work..

and thanks for the suggestion kurg, i'm using Nosferatu's Coil so that will give me the 10% IAS i need from goldwrap..plus cat's eye ammy and with mav's helm and the bow, i can get another 90% IAS thus hitting the 110% breakpt ( correct me if i'm wrong ) i'm hoping it will be enuff to take out low level pkers..or just leave make them leave some of the pubby games in peace :innocent:
 
heh it seems you spend your time on the idea that wont work
nobody will duel your zon with low lvl, just because they assume you are java
I woundnot duel any char higher than 42, can be plain suicide...
And you cant count on killing high lvl char because most likely he will have enough life to survive or exit
thats why you wont get nothing besides jokes for high lvl trying to duel low lvls and end up pking in norm sewers with that ama out of frustration ^^
 
u see mert..i'm not a active dueller or PKer..its ok if they dun want to duel me cos its not wat i plan to do anyway..if a low level PKer wants to disturb a peaceful game i will just go and try to get him its as simple as that..

if a PKer wants to make jokes bout a high level char trying to PK a low level PKer by all means go ahead..i'm not out to kill anyone. just trying to keep the peace :lol:

i'm no advocate of PKing or hunting as ppl call it though i dun condemn it too. in my opinion duelling is when 2 players want to test out their skills against each other..PKing is just hunting down other players who want to have a peaceful game just for glory/fun/the kick of it/to prove their superiority..its a matter of choice and my choice is to try make games as peaceful as possible for ppl who want peaceful games. :innocent:
