Am I Ready?

I have been trying to build a dclone killer and I think I have the proper gear to take him down, but I wanted to ask some dclone killing experts before I go and get my *** handed to me.

Here are my stats, skills, and equip:

Helm: Guilliame's Face
Armor: Guardian Angel
Shield: Up'd HoZ w/ P Diamond
Weapon: Heaven's Light (clean right now)
Boots: Goreriders:
Belt: String of Ears
Ring1: Nature's Peace
Ring 2: Rare ring w/ resists, etc.
Ammy 2: Rare ammy w/ resists, etc.

Skills: 26 zeal, 26 sacrifice, 24 fanatacism, 20 holy shield

Stats (with boosts from items)

Str: 160
Dex: 120
Vit: 300 (1000 life)
Energy: base

I think this is suffiecient to take him down. I think that with a highlords, wisp collector, and tgods I would do better, but I used most of my good gear to trade for the stuff I have now, so this is as good as it get without me spending more time mfing. Do you think I can make it against Dclone?

ya ur gear is sufficient enough. what are ur resists in hell?

and what gloves are u using? dracs or laying of the hands are the idea ones. dracs b/c u cant LL off dclone so life tap would be helpful or laying of the hands b/c 350% ed for demons is tromendous. also u should find some good ed jewels for ur heavens light or some good runes if u can afford them.

u might want to replace that rare ring wit a raven frost for more dex or dwarf star for fire absorb. those are easy to get.

u might also want a cheap 2/1 seraphs amy if u can get that too or eye of the elicth would be fine too wit LL and some cold dmg.

The first time I met DC, my gear was absolutely inadequate for the killing. I took me a while, but I finally got him. I used a lot of money to buy potions, that's all. Don't wait until you have what you think is the best equipment. Look for him, go there and kill him. That only will teach you all you need to know.

Good luck with your hunt. :)

I am using magnus gloves for the ias, +ar, and life bonus from the 2 items. I have considers the laying of hands since they are cheaper then dracs and the +350 damage is sweet. jewels are expensive so i thought an eth rune (-25% def) would be good.

my resists are kind of low ~10-50ish depending on which type [light and fire are low =( ], i thought some +resist gc would be good but expensive.

But do you think I could take him with my current gear and stats?

Yeah, that pretty much covers it :-) First time I went for DC I had some ideas of what I wanted to do; it mostly worked out allright, but since then (only done 4 clones so far, I think...) I've been working on some of the fine print.

Good luck with your hunt. :)

Yep... to me, it seems that KILLING isn't the main issue --- having a game on the right server when the WE is triggered, that's the difficult part. Especially for people who have to work as well...

So, LUCK is the important thing. Can't have enough of that when trying to get an anni.

Edit:

I can't tell you how much resists you need, since I'm a caster char --- so I hardly ever get hit by his spells. My merc has serious trouble, though, and he has high resistances (mine are maxed, too, so I don't generally get hurt a lot if I happen to get hit by a strayed spell) --- I usually need several potions to keep him alive, and still he dies sometimes.

The main thing, of course, is that fire and lightning are the main damage types of diablo and diablo clone... so if at all possible, get these up. You don't need expensive charms; fill you inventory with single resist charms of all shapes and sizes :-) Sooner or later I'll get below max resists since I want more skillers, but I'll always use my collection of (often crappy) single resist charms to fill all inventory gaps.

ya u need max fire and especially light resists for dclone or ur gonna die a lot if ur going up to him for the first time. if u dont have enough resists, a cheap kiras would do well enough b/c u have enough cb from heavens light and goreriders. or u can um ur gangel or helm for +15% resists each... u prob want to switch gloves to either a pair of low dracs or laying of the hands. those are better. laying of the hands give u 20% ias too and wit fana on, u wont have to worry that much. replace ur 2 rings wit dwarf star and ravenfrost. raven for more dex and dwarf for fire absorb. both are pretty cheap.

edit: forgot u have nature peace. pmh is not much of an important mod for a zealot b/c of ur ias and cb so u he starts healing too much, u should switch back one of ur rings for it.

I fought him for the first time last night during a hell rush. he owned my zon, I wasn't really surprised tho. I grabbed my wolfbarb and owned him, the lightning attack he does won't hit you close so worry more about fire res. I would really encourage using dracs, life will be a big concern and buying potions like mad isn't much fun.

btw, I got him to spawn in place of Desais(sp?) so I fought Diablo and clone about 5 mins from eachother.

My vote would prolly have to be against your pali. Don't take that personally :P but Uber D does a surprising amount of damage against you and it's easier to say you can outlast him than done. The level of you zeal and fan is a tad on the low side and I'm not sure if you can pull out the damage needed to drop Diablo in a decent amount of time without spending a lot of time and a rediculous amount of potions. (i'm not sure if 1k hp is enough either, but maybe i'm wrong) I know you aren't inexperienced or anything, but a reminder that a 'prevent monster heal' mod is necessary so that uber diablo doesn't heal faster than you can hurt him.

I could be wrong with a number of my suggestions but i see a lot of people underestimate how much uber d eats away at your hp and takes damage like a sponge. It could be your pali is ready for uber d, but in my opinion it will either take a long long time to drop d, or that you won't be able to keep up with D because of the damage he inflicts.

may be wrong, but tell us how it goes - that's the best way to know if you need more work on gear

Definately use a Rising Sun as an amulet. With that and 75+ fire res, you are completely immune to his fire attacks. If you want to be on the safe side, use a Dwarf Star as well.

If using Zeal, try to have ITD on the weapon. PMH and CB are also nice to have, as well as a nice speed. Fury runeword would be a nice weapon vs. him.

I noticed that you didn't mention using any gloves... definately use LoHs. They have 50%fr, +350% damage to demons, and 20%ias.

You won't be needing much from a String as a belt, so use Verdungo's.

As a shield, a HoZ is fine, but if you really need more res's, use a 4-socket +x% res all mod pally-only shield socketed with pdiamonds, prubies, ptopazes... whatever you're lacking.

ITD weapons won't work on unique bosses.
I have a lvl80 avenger
with maxed conviction and vengence
using ligh sabre, shako, ga, hoz, soe, loh, gorerider, raven, highlord and a rare ring
will this setup be able to kill dclone alone?

I was in a dclone game too bad I was still lvling was bout lvl 60ish :(

Right. Forgot about that. In any case, a Fury weapon would still be one of the best choices, imo. Of coarse, I wouldn't recommend a zealot to begin with, either.

shock: well even with a +2 pally ammy or a maras my skills would only be 28ish and I don't see that boosting my damage more than a few hundred points so i really think i have hit a limit in terms of damage unless i get +skill gcs, and 40/15's which is way out of my price range. Also, I have no intention of removing the natures peace, pmh is massively important like you said.

to all: I am pretty poor for the most part, I used my hellforge drop (and ist rune and a lem from another char) and a few nm meph drops to get the gear I have and it took me some time to get this all together. I am just trying to see if I would at least stand a chance given my current stuff. I think in terms of alternate equipment, laying of hands would be best, plus a rising sun, dwarf star, and tgods, but like i said... i have nothing to trade for this stuff so I will try it as is and maybe if i get an anni I can use it to get the rest of the gear and go at him again. =)

Short hint: Any sorc with blizz or orb, cm reducing over 100% and decent resists can take him down. U wont need to make a big plan, just use mf sorc with good gear.

well, that last post wasnt particularly helpful. hes talking about his paladin here, unless i missed sumtin. anwy, i think ur din should be fine. tho my word shouldnt really count, cause ive never evn seen the dude, only ever been in a WE game once, and that was after he was dead. ive just finished an avenger for the job, tho his resists stink, still needs a hoz, and an um to stick in his ga, to get my resists decent. good luck tho, and happy hunting

Unless I've been greatly misled, you only need to hit a monster ONCE with pmh to prevent them from healing... So all you do is go in and whack him with Nature's Peace on, and then you can safely switch out to a Dwarf Star or whatever.

id say you definately need higher res in fire and light, about 70-90% try getting a kiaras since they arent too expensive and would boost you to max res or if you wear dracs and dont stop hitting him the life tap should keep help you alive

Well I had my first dclone encounter today and I am proud to say I have a brand spanking new anni. Took me about 10-15 minutes to take him down. I died about half a dozen times though. Biggest problem was clearing area with him chasing after. I am probably going to use this anni for trading to tweak my gear then get another for keeps.

Thanks for the help. w00t.
