A nice and easy necro build

Hi,

I'm looking for something different than a soso or a pala. I think necro's are challanging but what kinda ? I heard of "fishymancers" but what are they're Dis-Advantages ? Or can you tell me some better easy necro builds ?

Post !!

Jeroen~

a fishymancer(skeleymancer) is the easiest build/char in the whole game IMO. The only disadvantage is they can be slow compared to other chars but other then that there arent many.

Slow? Are you insane, I kill quicker with a fishy than anything else in games below players/3.

Basic skill guide is:

20 Raise skeleton
20 Skeleton mastery
1 in revive and all pre-reqs
1 in summon resist and pre-reqs
1 in all curses
20 Corpse explosion
Optionally 20 Raise skeleton mage (I think they're essential personally, but others will disagree with me).

You can run this build naked, and when you have decent equipment you can run any area in the game (including ubers) with ease.

Heya,

Even easier than Fishy is the Dim Vision Lord with Skeletons & a Might Merc.

Or just a plain old Dim Vision necromancer. They too can solo most of the game (hard points and impossible points are some bosses and minion packs that cannot be blinded). The merc starts the show. CE does the rest. Dim Vision replaces the need for life/resists/blocking/gear/everything.

Cheers, :sunny:

fishymancers are reasonably fast killers with CE. not many disadvantages to them. not the greatest boss runners (tele sorc would be faster), but VERY efficient and survivable area clearing.

lots of options available as the "standard" fishymancer build is done quite early, so if you level up to 85-ish or more, you'll have plenty of spare skill points to customize to your playing style and overall goals.

If you want really easy, combining the main skills of both the DVLord and the Fishy (Fishy base build, maxed DV, everything else in Bone Wall for the Bone armor synergy), can be easy to the point of boredom. In regular play, Diablo is the only thing that presents it any challenge at all. And that only if you're way low on +skills. (Ubers and DClone are something I have no experience with so I can't say about those. But I hear they're doable.)

Edit: Ok, so there are those few, well-known places that can be frustrating and/or slow - Maggot Lair, Arcane, Duriel before lvl24 (for Decrepify), etc. But over all, there's nothing safer and easier.

Disadvantages of all Necromancers:
1. Less life per vitality stat point
2. Lesser block rate on all shields as compared to Paladin and Barbarian

Disadvantages of Fishy per se:
1. I see Enigma armor as almost indispensable. If you wander too far from your summons, they will disappear. Use town portal or teleport to collect and focus them.
2. Fishymancers should not be used for PvP because minions damage is reduced to 1/4 in PvP.
3. Many people do not like Fishymancers doing Baal runs for them because a lot of people complain their CPU lagging because of the intense graphics usage due to a lot of summons on the screen. "Necro, no summons please" is a common dictum.

That's all I can think of now. Will update later if I remember more.

If you wander too far from your minions, you will likely end up dead

However, for general use, teleport is nice but not essential, in my opinion. My Fishy is waiting just outside the Chaos Sanctuary, patiently waiting for RL to allow me to kill Diablo and go after Baal. He teleports very, very rarely (I am not too fond of teleport).

But there are also cheaper alternatives to Enigma - I use a Naj's Puzzler but amulets can also fill in. Sure, 3k a pop isn't cheap, but I have never run out of gold (even with my suicidal merc). Enigma is a great piece of equipment (I sure would like one!) but, so far, I haven't found it essential to any of my (somewhat limited) builds.

I've used the SpellSteel Unique axe for its Teleport charges. Not very many charges though, so you won't be using it to tele through Durance 2. But for things like hopping over the gap in the Worldstone Chamber, or the moat in Durance 3, it's adequate.
