A good set of low level gear

Hi, I recently just restarted playing D2 with a friend and I wanted to MF with my old Sorc that I made in SP. I'm just wondering if there is any thread or guide about which items are good to start a character.

Do you guys have any idea on which items are good for low level characters?

Re: A good set of low level gear

If you're starting with nothing you should check out this guide from the stickies:
Guide to Untwinked, Single-pass, early game Magic Finding

It's not exactly what you're looking for but definatly a step in the right direction.

Thyiads twinky tips also has some good info.

Personally, I use:
Deaths Gloves & Belt
Twitchthroe Armor
Cathan Mask & rings & amulet
Khalims Will - make sure to twink it off when you get to act 3 though.
Hsarus boots -> Vidala boots

Edit: Sorry Thy. :badteeth:

See my signature.

Friend goes for Berserkers and Civerbs combo with Hsurs' stuff. Cheap but effective.

Edit: Great. Pwnd plugging my own guide. GG ducky.

Re: A good set of low level gear

how to get 200mf at level 15;
tarnhelm (50mf)
angelic armor + ammy + 2x rings (2x 50mf)
sigon's boots + 2 other sigons items (50mf)

total: 200mf. sweet (though it all depends on the roll of your tarnhelm =P)

The set up you describe demands that the "other" Sigon's be Belt and Shield.

Still, in my opinion, there is a big difference between good gear for a "starting" character and a no/low twink character. For me, if I have the gear you describe, I would probably have a few higher level characters. I'd MF with the higher lvl characters for better items in higher difficulties, and focus on speeding through the Acts with lower lvl toons, not focusing on MF. For the latter, Full Sigon's is an additional option to those described above, IMHO, or maybe drop the shield and use a 5/6 os gemmed bow.

Just my $ 0.02.

Good luck,
DudSpud

Re: A good set of low level gear

Add a Gull dagger for another 100 MF.
Or use the Angelic sword for the nice full set bonuses, and get another 40MF instead. Full set bonuses of the Angelic set:

Half Freeze Duration
All Resistances +25
40% Better Chance of Getting Magic Item
Regenerate Mana +8%
+10 Dexterity
+50 Mana

Full Angelics is a good choice for a low-level melee character with primarily elemental damage, such as a Frostalot or Tesladin.

Re: A good set of low level gear

If you don't have any items and you're wondering what's good for starters, look for white gothic plates and any sort of low str requirement helm that can have 3 sockets (I think Great Helm can spawn 3 sockets with low ilvl)

Those two pieces combine for roughly 160% mf and you haven't even done anything yet. Nice

Re: A good set of low level gear

Thats a nice guide

I think getting a couple of Nagelrings from Andariel is easy and can help boost the MF in a pinch

Also the artic furs+belt helped me with 40% mf in the beggining.

Now i that i finally got a second gull for my barb , the uniques are coming fast

Re: A good set of low level gear

Add a Gul dagger for another 100 MF.

And two Gulls( what I have ) gives you
Gull: 200mf
Angelic Rings: 50/per = 100

Now, Does Norm Griz drop tarns? and Does Norm Bish drop Gulls? I got two gulls out of chests on the Cold plains. ( The old d2data site says for 1.10, all end of act monsters can drop Tarn.. )

Right now, the barb has Infernal belt and Helm, Cleg's gloves and two Clegs swords ( +24 Max damage/per sword? ) and 20% IAS per sword.

Re: A good set of low level gear

I usually use a Jewel Envy x10 setup between levels 1-6, usually the time I'm done with Den of Evil and Blood Moor. After that I switch for full Sigons + Angelic Jewelry at level 6, using various gemmed/jeweld weapons at lvl 6, 9 and 18 level-breakpoints. Nearly all of my characters are full melee until level 30 or so.

Re: A good set of low level gear

1) The fastest weapon you can get that's useable at clvl 1. Khalim's Will is pretty unbeatable here and has added elemental damage.

2) Armor/helm/shield STUFFED with +max damage gems with very low clvl requirements.

That setup is almost always enough to get me by until my skills kick in and I re-gear in the twenties.

Re: A good set of low level gear

On melee/non-caster chars I usually use either a 5 os Long Bow filled with jewels of envy, a 6 os Crystal Sword filled with jewels of joyfulness (+4 min damage), Masks with jewels of envy or jewels of wrath, Breast Plates with jewels of wrath/joyfulness/carnage. Death's gloves + belt are always on until about level 20-30.

Caster chars, I like using the Long bow option with Death's set. Then once they get some simple spells, I switch to a Crystal Sword filled with Tirs or aureolic jewels, Tarnhelm, rare rings with +10% fcr and +mana per kill, the Eye of the Ethlic, Tarnhelm, Wall of the Eyeless and mana/FRW GCs.

Re: A good set of low level gear

I start out with a 5-envy long bow and 3-envy mask. To go with that pair, I use various low-level set items... arctic furs (with jewel of envy), hsaru's belt and boots, death's gloves, etc., until level 15, when I tend to equip Iratha's set.

For casters, once using skills becomes a reasonable option, I switch to a 6-Tir crystal sword... no more mana worries! For other characters, a six jewel of wrath crystal sword tends to be the next step up from the envy bow.
