4 Soc Flail for HOTO

I just fused my way up to a vex and now i can make a HOTO but i just cant seem to find a 4 soc flail, i have found a 1,2,3 and 5 soc flail but i just cant seem to get a 4 so i decided to try to use the cube recipe.
"1 Ral + 1 Amn + 1 Perfect Amethyst + Normal Weapon = Socketed Weapon
Spawns a socketed weapon. 1-6 sockets, restricted by item class." I've done it about 10 times now and i haven't gotten higher then 3 so I'm just wondering if i can get 4 soc with that recipe or if I'm just wasting my runes and gems. Also if I cant get 4 soc from the recipe where would be the best place to find one? Thanks in advance guys.

You're probably just wasting your runes by using flails you got in normal. They can cube up to 5 sockets, but they have to be a high enough ilvl to get more than 3 (something like ilvl 40 - anything found in mid A5 normal or later will work).

It may be quicker to just run around somewhere in NM on p8 until one drops, though, it shouldn't really take long (since NM drops are capped at 4 sockets).

edit: I pulled my ilvl number more or less off the top of my head, so you might be better off believing stephan on that number. Having one drop in NM is still gonna be easier though

You can get 4 sockets granted that the ilvl permits it. (ilvl >26)

The best way to get one is to find one with ilvl 26-39 (say act 5 normal, you could check with ATMA anyway) and use a Larzuk quest on it, or start searching for them in NM (in NM items can drop only with a maximum of 4 sockets, although the cube recipy or Larzuk quest could give you more if the item allows it).

Well the ones for the recipe i just bought in act 2 norm and the ones I didn't fuse where in the cow lvl in nightmare.

Flails from A2 Normal can't get 4 sockets. Ones from the NM Cow Level have a chance though.

Ya well I just found a flail in nightmare cows and cubed it and got 4 soc and heres my first HOTO.
