Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

So because I didn't find Mara suspicious and asked him to give us a better lynch target you're on my case?

No, how did you get to that? I'm on your case because instead of trying to find viable lynch targets you put the burden on someone you, aparently, didn't find suspicious to get you a better target or you'll lynch him.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

About 38 minutes left in the day. All votes except Bad Ash's vote above should be reflected in the vote tally.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

I didn't say I'll vote to lynch him if he doesn't come up with another target. I asked him for who he thinks a better target than him would be. And that was before I saw any kind of claim from him and before he noted that I missed his suspect list.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

I saw it TC and it still doesnt sit well. It'll take a lot to get you lynched for today but I dont think egging someone into claiming, even if they have a few votes on them, is the right move when there was about 20 hours left in the day

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

We're running out of time, and we're far from decided who to lynch. I am against lynching Marahumm, even if the choice is between him and no lynch, which should come as a surprise to no one who knows how I feel about power role claims.

My main suspects are Zarniwoop for reasons mentioned in my last post, and now Valhauros, for reasons I just noticed while rereading his posts.

I agree with Goryani and Caluin Graye regarding Marahumm's behavior (checking user profiles) and it'd seem to me that it was an attempt to fish for roles gone awry, otherwise, I don't see why he defended his suggestion in all his following posts (so far). Gorny also seems a good candidate for a lynch train due to his claim of having a night action (which according to him "it's not the ability to investigate"), so if he ends up having more votes, I'll switch my vote to ensure a lynch.

For someone who was mislynched for claiming to have a night action, I find it extremely odd that Valhauros would try this line of reasoning. Also note his lack of activity this game, only two posts so far compared to ten during day one in last game.

Unvote: Zarniwoop
Vote: Valhauros

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Some quick questions before I reread what has been posted overnight:

Does anyone remember if Mara has made statements about self investigating as cop? Or can anyone point to a game where Mara self investigated as cop?

The whole "lynch every day" topic is simple for me. The town will lose unless it pieces together a certain level of information. There are several methods of obtaining information but lynches are the only method the town is guaranteed to have each and every day. I'm not wanting to throw away useful opportunities but neither am I dead set on a lynch being the only option. A claim which can be verified in the future provides much the same information about the claimant as a lynch. Unfortunately the town often obtains less vote information so the town learns less about each player. The purpose of a lynch isn't just to find information about Soandso, it's to find information about those fighting for or against Soandso. A no lynch drastically reduces the information obtained about the rest of the town.

If I were to change my vote, I would look for players who meet several of the following criteria:
Posted before Feysal and ignored most of the obvious reasons for lack of N1 kill.
Pushed for Gorny's lynch or was a silent voter or mentioned they could switch their vote to Gorny.
Not finding any person or discussion suspicious.

I feel each criteria has a better than random chance of finding mafia. Anyone fitting multiple criteria therefore has an increasingly higher than random chance of being mafia themselves.

Now I'm off to reread and see if anyone fits into the profile.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Since I've a couple posts left today, I might as well use them on some replies.

Really now? In your next post you can or cannot reply, but do you feel you will live to see tomorrow?

I do not know, it was only a guess. It occurred to me that a poisoner would both explain the lack of a night kill and my restriction, if indeed the restriction was a symptom. Perhaps I should clarify that what I said about my voice weakening was the flavor I was given, and it sounded to me like it was part of something ongoing. This is also why I did not look into who might have been online around that time to inflict this restriction on me - it may have been done to me already last night.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Super quick skim yields at least one person who meets all three of my criteria: ThunderCat.

Not much time left, so I don't expect anything to happen, but in case something does, I could switch to TC easily.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Crap, I can't feel good about Mara now. I don't really feel good about anyone else yet either and we're out of time. All I've heard since I started forum mafia was WE GOTTA LYNCH SOMEBODY. With my limited experience, I guess I'm inclined to agree. So with great irony (first game and all):

Unvote: Marahumm
Vote: ThunderCat

Sorry TC, had a great time last game!

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

I just keep changing my vote, but none of my suspicions seem to develop anywhere. I will have to start earlier tomorrow if I am to accomplish anything.

Unvote: Valhauros
Vote: ThunderCat

He was not my first suspect among those who speculated on the mafia missing their kill, but out of the options we have he is the best one I can see.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Day has ended, and it looks like a No-Lynch. Still seems to be short by two votes, PM with any corrections if you think I've calculated wrong.

--

Even with a flurry of late votes, you're unable to come to a consensus on who to lynch. You decide its probably better to get another night's sleep before you make any hasty decisions.

Just as you're about to disperse and head back to your rooms for the night, Feysal collapses. You quickly rush over to him and check him over. You make a few revival attempts but its no use, he's dead. Looking him over there are no obvious signs of what led to his demise. All you can tell is his face looks very pale.

Feysal- died at the end of Day one.

It is now NIGHTTIME, you may not post for 24 hours. All those with night actions PM me ASAP.

Time until Day two start: Friday 20 @ 4 PM EST

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Ankeli has informed me that he will be on a cruise and probably unable to post until Sunday.

When you arrive in the lobby this morning not everyone is there yet. You wait a few minutes and then a bunch of other people appear. Due to isolated electrical problems with the door locks they were stuck in their rooms until the problem could be remedied. However, a further wait of several minutes fail to produce any more people. So you decide to check the remaining vacationers' rooms.

You find that the door to Leopold Stotch's room has been forced. A survey of the room reveals signs of a struggle. After searching the room thoroughly, you're unable to find Leo or any other clues as to what happened to her.

When you reach Laarz's room, it's in stark contrast to the scene you just left. To start with you need one of the waitstaff to open the door. Looking around Laarz's suite reveals it to be in pristine condition. It's then that you see Laarz sprawled out on the bed, it appears that he's been strangled. You notice an open window, but a 5 story drop to ground makes it hard to believe that anyone entered that way. You then return to the lobby with more questions than answers.

Leopold Stotch is missing.
Laarz has been strangled.

It is now DAYTIME.

Players Alive:
1. Asrrin
2. CoolguyBad
3. Goryani
4. Noodle
5. Zarniwoop
6. Valhauros
7. ThunderCat
8. Marahumm
9. Bad Ash
10. Technomancer
11. Sathoris
12. Caluin Graye
13. Krazeyivan
14. Ankeli
15. LozHinge the Unhinged

With 15 Players alive, it takes 8 votes to lynch someone and 9 votes to lock the lynch.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Does that mean that Miss Leo is out of the game? Or does it mean that there's a chance that she might come back?

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

I'm no mafia mechanics expert, forgive me if I am stating the bleeding obvious or completely wrong, but I would say that Leo has been spirited away by some kind of jailkeeper.

That said, we don't know Leo's alignment, whereas we can guess percentagewise that Laarz was Town :( I trust we will see Leo again - hope so if she's Town.

The poisoning of Feysal is a blow for the town - he isn't always right in his theorycrafting but he does throw nuggets up from time to time. Can a mafia game expert enlighten me- is a Poisoner mafia, SK or some other type of role?

Disclaimerâ„¢: I am not playing dumb to make me seem like a cluless townie, OK?

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

I too expect to see Leo again. I wonder if her apparent abduction is part of a recruitment, though.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

I hadn't thought of the recruitment angle ... interesting that you have planted a seed of doubt in people's minds now.:scratchchin:

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

I thought that at first too, but can't think a recruitment would be very successful long term wise if it drew attention to itself by making the player disappear for a time frame. Should Leo pop back in suddenly, we'd have no recourse but to lynch her just to be sure she wasn't recruited. Seems counter-productive from a recruitment angle.

The poison thing bothers me. I don't think I've ever seen a case of someone dying at the beginning of a night phase (excluding the lynched, obviously). I wonder if it's a prolonged night action for a serial killer? Feysal didn't have the post restriction until the end of the first half of the day phase, then dropped dead at the end of the second. I have a bad feeling it's going to happen again.

So... what happened to this being a 'vanilla' game?

That's a very good point. OK, so I'm leaning against it being recruitment.

Uraj. Uraj happened.
