If you are fighting Andy or someone and you almost die or run out of potions can you run up the stairs for a minute to heal is that allowed? Also if say you have run out of potions and your on catacombs level 3 can you go up to catacombs level 2 if its in same game and you have not killed everything to get more potions?

@insane wayne... thanks for the tip on not being able to hit level 30 by duriel. i would have held off on my dire wolves and worked on fissure for crowd control otherwise.

HC_Rainwalker gave up on full clears, as his patience was wearing thin. Scrolls of ID have been dropping pretty well and on his way through black marsh paid the countess a visit. Luckily, the level entrances were close together and he made it to her lair with only 1 NDE. Unfortunately, she dropped an EL Rune, gold and a magic dagger and scimitar. The only good parts were the rare bow and rare hard leather armor dropped by some boss packs. The armor has 25% reduced poison duration, so it should make the fight with Andy a little less painful.

Still on players 8 and making my way to Andy. If there's a boss pack or shrine, I will go for them, otherwise I'm keeping a steady path through each area. Fissure is still killing well, and I am concentrating on building my dex (for bow use) and vitality (life... duh!

) with only a modest investment in mana (3 points, I think). Saved at the outer cloister WP and am going to chill until tommorrow.

Not too much to report, just slowly plodding along with blade fury, cos, and a shadow. Finally found a weapon with mana steal in the maggot lair which really reduced the amount of time I spend running in circles. RunAway is currently in the Arcane Sanctuary waiting for me to have enough time to finish Act 2 in one sitting.

The answer to all of those is yes. Hopefully another easy way to describe the intent of the rule is:

#1: When you start the game you can only go forward. This means either finishing the bits of the current area that you didn't finish before leaving the game last time, or otherwise making a direct line to the area exit, not picking up anything at all if you have to kill anything to make it out alive.

Assuming you obeyed #1, then you can run around to your hearts desire, backwards and forwards anywhere that you have been since you left the area in which you started the particular game.

Hope that made sense.

Tower Level 5 loves me.

Not only did the Countess give me a Tal Rune, but I also got Cleglaws Shield and a nice rare self repairing Jawbone Cap with some +life and poison resist.

Butz answered this one very well. It's frequent practice in this tourney to leave a lot of easy to kill monsters or shrines when you go fight a boss, because there's a very good chance you're going to need to kill them for more potions.

Bad news. Went for Diablo. Chaos Sanctuary went easy in /players8. Unfortunately, a burst of lag let Diablo slip past my Decoy and Valkyrie long enough for his lightning attack. With pretty much a glass cannon build, my Amazon perished quickly. I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not to start up again. We'll see.

Sorry for the loss whoisfu, but good job to get further than anyone so far.

I'm terrified of the normal Chaos Sanctuary in this one, obviously Big D himself, but also I'm worried if I get the map where the Balrogs have you cornered once you pop the seal. In untwinked HC I almost always go back to town then walk back from the WP so I can lure them out in small groups, but given that I can't do that, and that he'll probably incinerate the wolves instantly, with poor resists myself at present I'm very worried!

Will probably play Act 4 myself tonight, so we'll know soon enough.

Finally caved in and put one point in both find potion and find item.

I'm in love with them.

I use find item on unique monsters to get double drops and find potion on everything else.

Did you know if you use find potion or find item on an enemy it can't be revived?

It's probably common knowledge but it's helping me out a ton on getting through the catacombs and I didn't realize it until 30 minutes ago.

Sigh. the summoner got me. Froze my minions with the spike, and killed me with fire wall. I'm still not sure whether to take a zon or a barb as my next char.

Well, I have Andy to about 1/6 life... but I'm down to 15...

Kinda standing here out of her range and I have no idea what to do...

No more potions are anything..

So troublesome...

That is all I have to say.

I basically just ran through 3 or 4 mobs of unique monsters to open up caskets to find potions.

Found 3, just enough to finish the deed.

Andy has fallen.
