Best tanking character?

1. my mistake on the cold skillers, but regardless it's not a build even worth using a CTA IMO. I dont think it needs it really. I look at CTA as a crutch in pvm for characters not built strong enough defensively, or overpowered offensively and a means of making up some room where characters are lacking. A character specifically built for defensive purposes won't be lacking in the defensive aspects of the game and doesnt necessarily need the extra boost.

2. You show me someone willing to sell 10 light skills for 10 puls and i'll buy them on the spot. You'd be hard struck to find it.

3. I dont know about valar but I would shoot myself before xfering 10 skillers everytime i want to cast eshield. prebuffing gear is fine by me, prebuffing charms is a bit much. Once again this is not a dueler its a pvm char.

I don't disagree with you on the life charms, just combining them with the light skillers is a bit much IMO...which of course i'm entitled too ;)

It happens often to buy 2x clean Lighting skillers for pul+ (fal, ko or somethig like that). I am on EuHCL. Maybe on other realms the clean lighting skillers worth more ??

A lighting skiller/3x-4x life is a different story...

Curious as to why he would make it eth.

And if he did, gib gear and build plzzzzzzzzzz n00b!!

Edit: Oh, and should my name be "TPPK-Immune" or "TPPK-Proof" just to see how many people try it?

*nero post - although not as bad as some of Toli's ones*

Doing my ussually yearly forum lurk...and of course I typically do a search for my own name. *grin*

KhaliShi was probbaly one of my more noticable successes. The Iron Baba. He could round up the entire cow level and tank it for an extremely long time - his best effort was tanking a full screen (and then some) of cows for about 3 mins before needing to drink his first purple. Lightning furry amazon's loved him in cows - Until they lagged out of the game due to too many cows + lightning + cow deaths + item dropping + all at the same time. I started rounding up maybe 1/4-1/3 of the level after that. Having your screen freeze for up to 20seconds or more wasn't terribly pretty.

Hell, I even dueled some Ith babas abusing the old eth rune back in the day. The Eth rune didn't help them one bit, since they had terrible ar anyway. They used Eth so that they could hit (since it used to set your targets armor to 25% instead of 75%). It raised their chance to hit me from about 3% to maybe 6% which didn't happen at all.

He had 2 stone runewords made out of Sacred Armor. One of which was eth. Both had crazy armor on it... The eth armor was only really used when I was sure to only encounter non-spell casting mobs, since the rest had to hit me in order to eventually damage my armor.

There's a point where you can get your chance to be hit to around 7-10% as I recal without using any shrines. All that is required is huge amounts of base armor, someone using the defiance aura (or in my case an act2 defensive merc) and shout.

Then factor in a shield....and have max blocking. Now your so called 10% chance to be hit is now effectively 2.5% chance to be hit since blocking doesn't count towards the 5% minimum chance to be hit hardcap. And finnaly.... even if they do hit you, you won't loose any durability off the armor for the most part. That requires you to be hit alot of times, and then you might loose a durability point elsewhere.

His gear was pretty uber, and was all self farmed except for 2 items. an origional 15%ED 15ias jewel from Dutch, and an Arreats Face from WildBill. A 297% ed beserker axe with 40ias, max dex raven frost, rare dual leech ring with some stats, thundergods, stormshield with a max resist jewel (and either life or dex), war travs, IK gloves, and finnally..... the Mahim Oak Ammy (+10 all stats resist all, chance to hit AND 10% enhanced defence is simply uber.....seriously).

Sadly he's probbaly player not found by now....

oh.... and the standard 2x echoing phase/dimensional blades on switch.....)

For DTM to actually do anything you need to take damage to your life bulb, which sort of implies that you're not exactly living much longer.

I just re-read over some of the responses and it made me remember how much Daniel cracked me up.

Tis a shame Rah couldn't have posted this, what, 7 months ago?

lol :)

gawd, nothing has changed here..... its like something frozen in time - the same people are still here, with a couple of new faces.

Khali was built in 1.09, but was specifically designed for when the 1.10 patch hit he realms (they put in an open beta for that remember). The only difference was that I put 10 extra into WW, which could of been better servered elsewhere.

Skills were: 20 bo, 20 shout, 20 conc, 10 Iron skin, rest 1 point everywhere else. I was aiming for 20 IS/more into zerk, but since I was cowing alot at the time the WW helped a little more. It was primarily a way I could move around since you couldn't really click move with the amount of cows on the screen.

I suppose you havn't taken my advice and moved on to WoW, have you Rah? Would be nice to play with another old face. :wink2:

Actually its funny you should say that..... :)

I'm currently playing WoW and GuildWars......and actually tossing the idea of re-installing diablo2.

For WoW I am on Silver Hand, horde side...... pesky gnomes and elves should all die!! Kokomala is my main (lvl 52 tauren shammy ftw!). Although I do run a smuggling opperation from alliance to horde.... (51 nelf rogue).

GuildWars my mains are Aelbera Silverthorn and Pai Wuvia.

What guild you with on GW? I heard some old Fianna teamed up with Agony but I dont know who all is in it, and I have seen a few other old Fianna here and there, seems like one is with TE IIRC........but with all the name changes anyone could be anywhere and I wouldnt know it.

I still have aG going, Scott and Justin are playing with me when they can. Its a large group of rather minimal time people. I guest alot with KT but most the time I hover in my Vent hoping to get 8 ppl to GvG doing other things like a little Lineage II on a private server and I have been messin around with that Silkroad Beta.......anything FREE is attracting!

DII always entices me but I just cant do it with TPPK being around, there just isnt enuff people to private play and most of the fun of DII for me was just being in public dodgeing legit PKs and seeing many different people all the time.

I'm still with Fi.

We've mostly "merged" with Agony, and most have switched to whatever main guild we're playing on... not sure since I haven't played with the guys for a while.

Problem is.... we've mostly turned into a gaming guild as such. ie: we play whatever game at the time: ranging from war3, guildwars, dawn of war, counter strike etc. My problem is that I ussually have terrible latency issues most games that they're playing at the time.

A couple left to join up with Lulu and make whatever guild they were making at the time.

I'm thinking of starting to play wow again Rah, maybe I'll start on silver hand. Just looked on wow expansion pack.. I WANT PANDAS!

Edit: Just looked on at the server.. Rah not on a pvp server? Thats surprising!

WoW isn't a terribly good pvp game. Its rather poorly implemented I think.

WoW's pvp servers are "teh suck" imo. Its just a simply gank fest whilst you are out leveling (depending of course on server population). I've tried a few....didn't like it. Especially since getting my corpse camped is the biggest waste of time in my life....I'd rather play tetris. Sure I could res at a graveyard, but then I'd have to wait out res sickness as well as be holding a sign saying "look at me, I'm weak please kill me". Not to mention the expensive repair bill at the end of it.

That and by gawd you get the elitest jerks running around.

That isn't to say that I don't enjoy it... it has its ups and downs. I do enjoy the BG somewhat, and the occasional duels. Now that my shammy is higher (53 currently) I'm pvping more. Seriously considering making a major push to try for a High Warlord (I just want the fist weapon yum!). Currently a senior sarge.

Silkroad is in Beta, at first glance I didint like it due to the grind of it, but I liek the PvP system and dont hold me 100% to this but it is like this.

YOu buy a "claok" when you put it on it looks like you have a bandana mask and you are in PvP mode, anyone at any time can dual you or gank you.

Then there are the Trade Runs, you have Theives, Hunters and Traders. You have a suit for each of these types of jobs that clearly shows you are doing that job. So basically you have (4) suits, PvP, Theif, Hunter and Trader.

Theives gain theif exp for raiding caravans. Thier damage while theiving, and IIRC thier profit from stolen good increase with Theif Levels.

Hunters gain hunter exp for killing Theives. As I recall thier Hunter damage increases, and they can be "higherd guns" for traders, or at least get a few bones from the Trader they help

Traders gain trading exp for items sold. Thier profit grows with Trader levels.

At any time you can do any of these 3 jobs, but doing some of them makes you loose exp of another job, like if you Hunt and kill Theives you loose Theif exp, same as if you do Trades, a Hunter looses hunter exp if he Theives, and a Trader looses if he theives and sells stolen goods. Traders can defend thier Caravan though without loss. Anyone in a "job" function is open for PvP except Traders that are doing 1 star (small runs).

If you kill a person not wearing one of the job suits or the PvP max you are tagged as a Murder, you can work it off and it is harder the more you murder. A Theif that theives alot will become "wanted" and Hunters get big exp for killing them. A Theif that is "wanted" can be arrested even if he trys to hunt or Trade, but if he goes jobless he is ok.......still not sure how you work off "wanted" status i beleive its a time based thing.

There are ofcourse alliances and wars and all that good stuff......So far the servers are not PvP or PvE they are both. Weapons seem really balanced for level, and hell its FREE!!! It is a bit too much of that "kill 100 of these" which really ends up meaning 300+ to get all the quest items.

I doubt seriously I will stay with it, I just play these games occasionally to burn off burnout from Guild Wars PvE and 4x4 and the stupid metagame of Tombs here and there, but i am always looking to GvG.

DII IMO still has the best game, the way it is just rocks in soo many ways, its not the grind of killing "respawns" and not the grind of "non-varrying instanced areas" that Guild Wars has after you play it a while. Sure DII has some repetition, but it is still more random than any other game, soo many ways to build and more.

There just seems to be too many downsides to other games. Guild Wars rocks, but being a solo person in that game really restricts what you can do and how far you can go in PvP. The best part of the game is GvG but getting 8-12 people that are available to GvG regularly isnt easy and then getting that number of "solid" people to make a run for say Top 100 is even more difficult. Sure would be nice to free up GW more.......Then the downside of MMOs......kill a billion of these and level slow as hell.

Guild Wars would be a much better game if ANet would just control and force change in the metagame more often. Tombs is just a joke when all you see is 100's of this one build or that one and just occasionally see something original.
